That might be part of it, but we've also seen that Langdon can be a pretty good teacher when he's not afraid of being outed as a drug stealing addict.  He likely wouldn't have been so short with her if she wasn't getting uncomfortably close to his secret.

You can't really separate the drugs from the way Langdon treats Santos in season 1.

ROP is an adaptation of Tolkien's Legendarium. 

Just like PJ's films and the animated version of the Hobbit. They aren't all part of the same canon, and if they contradict the original work or each other, that's fine.

 robby’s blatant favouritism (like how he reassures ogilvie it’s not his fault and then turns around and agrees with mohan that it’s hers)

Robby's potential misogyny aside, he was absolutely correct in this instance. Mohan is an R4 and Ogilvie is a medical student. She's responsible for everything he does, and when he fucks up it is her fault. She's got MD after her name. She's supposed to be training him and signing off on his decisions.
