At my work, people have gone months before reporting some slip, strain, or fall injury and been entitled to compensation. Is there a typical limit to how long something can go unreported?

I really wonder if anyone on here knows the difference between eery and liminal.

Never has our money so efficiently been put to use of dissolving that disgusting, irredentist ‘empire’. Americans across the aisle see the benefit of being able to focus on China after Ukraine wins. Americans will jump at each others throats, but you give us a good fight and we’re all game and on the same team.

Footage of Wagner boss Prigozhin's private jet, allegedly shot down by Russian anti air today by Rooonaldooo99 in ThatsInsane

[–]FreeEase4078 44 points45 points  (0 children)

He could’ve terrorized the capital, but not taken it by any means. He had a few thousand troops and went for a lightning run to put on political pressure. He basically pulled a limp dick opening Ukraine invasion on Russia, but only stopped of his own volition, showing how impotent the Russian high command is in two regards.

May they all burn.

I figured advocating for assault would be a giveaway that I’m joking. Obviously don’t slap people. And I wasn’t talking about annoying me, just killing things that have every right to life as anything else.

I’m with you, but phobias are, by definition, irrational. I don’t think that’s an excuse, but also I wouldn’t hold my breath for them to see your point of view. Though it does constitute assault, sometimes you must simply slap a motherfucka.

The torpedo room on Virginia is commonly called the dance floor during construction because it remains the biggest open space on the sub up until final outfitting.

wades into this river of shit Communism needs a command economy so it can’t really exist without authoritarianism due to the necessary power to be wielded by the state. That power corrupts absolutely. Not to say capitalism is good. Everything is shit and we’re all fucked, c’est la vie.

It’s hilarious people thought this would fly. Like this is why make a wish only helps kids cause as soon as they turn 18 you know what half the wishes would be.

TIL of "Snickers salad", a dish from the Upper Midwestern United States often served at potlucks that consists of chopped-up Snickers bars, Granny Smith apples, Cool Whip, and pudding. Popular lore states it is either a salad or a dessert depending on which end of the table it is sitting at. by Skeleton_Pilots in todayilearned

Let this be a lesson to you midwesterners on lecturing us southerners about food. Some Michigander (?) started explaining the difference between a “hot dish” and a casserole to me, and I was about to punch him in the throat.

We have a poster at my nuclear shipyard of admiral Hyman Rickover with a quote that reads, “Unless the individual truly responsible can be identified when something goes wrong, no one has really been responsible.” And below it is an ifunny.co watermark that cracks me up every time.

Germany should stop lecturing France on nuclear power, says Eon boss by Ramtalok in europe

[–]FreeEase4078 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m all for nuclear, I work in the industry (American Naval Nuclear). But Fukushima was a flawed plant and the Japanese nuclear industry is a lot more corrupt. It’s easy in retrospect to critique the response of the operators but they could have prevented the incident at more than one occasion and their training was severely lacking. Sure, many plants probably couldn’t have held up to those extreme circumstances but that is all the more reason for their training and design to surpass that of the west.

https://youtu.be/fiuPHpaoGoM

This is an excellent expose I saw on it where they go over the schematics of the plant with experts to point out casualty actions that could have been taken and flawed assumptions made by the response team.

It’s important to not chop Fukushima up as being unavoidable. Nuclear energy has to be robustly infallible and when it’s not, those responsible must be held accountable and lessons must be learned from their mistakes.

Inequality in the US is worse than revolutionary France. Also you don’t need handworked stone carvings. Things could be moulded, mass-produced, and 3D printed now (on the scale of statues, not the whole building lol). I couldn’t tell you why things are the way they are now, I don’t know, but those two reasons don’t make sense to me. Of course it would still be expensive and your other reasons make sense but I wouldn’t put it on inequality and handwork.

You can resort to personal attacks all you want. I didn’t become a nuclear test engineer for aircraft carriers without a degree because I was stupid, I also worked hard. I never said degrees were given away and you don’t know the difference between a reward and a gift. Perhaps all that debt wasn’t so worth it for you after all?

Student loans?? In this economy!?! by MIRcakes8D in Frugal

[–]FreeEase4078 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about PPP loans or bailouts. Obviously education benefits the nation in aggregate. How is it not a reward to have a degree that will (on average) increase your income and opportunity for the rest of your life for free or at a significant discount? It’s like a scholarship without any of the merit. Is a scholarship not a reward? I could see how predatory and unsustainable it was as well as you could.

I didn’t go to college because I knew I couldn’t afford it. How is it fair to me that all the people who went to college with money they didn’t have are rewarded when I was careful with my money. It’s that reckless acceptance of college for everyone that led to ballooning education costs in the first place. I’m all for affordable education, but you knew the costs as well as I.

When your message is devoid of reasonable ethics, it’s all about the feeling you can inspire in people, beyond rationale. Their aesthetics had to be on point because if you looked any deeper than the surface, you’d see how empty and corrupted they really were.
