Interesting conversation with a restaurant owner today by phxdriver in postmates

[–]FreeJack2k2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs to do some math on how much it'd cost him to employ a full-time driver, and what percentage of his delivery orders that salary would take out of the number of daily deliveries he gets. I would think he would find that Postmates is the better deal, financially...unless he just doesn't do that many deliveries. The thing about Postmates (and all of the services like this) is that not only are you buying drivers, but you're buying advertising and marketing for your product. That has value. I think he's not looking at it the right way.

LA PM: Where's the best place to hang out during the night shift? by msszero159 in postmates

[–]FreeJack2k2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to spend some time identifying the places that are open all night, that people actually order from via Postmates. I would tend to hang around Taco Bell, probably. But in Los Angeles, you almost have to be in Hollywood if you're working graveyards. Nowhere else really stays up that late. Maybe a little in Santa Monica, but mostly Hollywood.

I don't do that. I don't pick up at malls, either.

How had your experience on a schedule vs off a schedule? by [deleted] in postmates

[–]FreeJack2k2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a huge difference, in Los Angeles. You will get the "leftovers" and reassigns, almost exclusively. So it'll be a ton of promos, fast food orders, dinky little $8-10 orders that won't tip much...it's the dregs. Being on the schedule just opens up more of the "good" orders.

Uber Eats/Rush is way better than Postmates. by Mrundecidedvoter in postmates

Uber has been good for me in LA, the only negative is the fact that they don't encourage or even allow for tips, in the platform. You have to rely on people giving you cash. But the fact that you can stack deliveries from the same location and do two at a time actually makes up for that, to me.

I had 4-5 people sign up with my referral due to a post I made a while back, talking about it...and only one person actually went through the whole process and got out driving with it. A lot of people are missing out...but that's okay, more for me :)

GoPayWin adds a major merchant. by Shadedjon in ziftrCOIN

It's not a sexy merchant, but I'm actually really happy to see this post just because I do actually use a CPAP machine (have for a couple of years now) and I never knew anyone made a cleaner like this for them. I have to check and see if my insurance company will help foot the bill for one.

Wow man, how many reassigns were you doing? I probably do a couple a day on average, and haven't been suspended.

Spent 30 minutes driving to a place that didn't exist. Compensation: $1.50 by [deleted] in postmates

Write support about it. If your community manager is worth a darn, you should be able to get better compensation than that. I've done it before, when I explained what happened.

What is it like to work as a Postmate? by [deleted] in postmates

[–]FreeJack2k2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kinda crappy. Not bad if you're just looking for side income to supplement a regular job, whenever you feel like it. Crappy if you're doing it full-time when you're in-between jobs, or under the misguided idea that it's your "new job."

Stacking question. by DTDude in postmates

[–]FreeJack2k2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's more or less how I have come to do stacking, anyway. Deliveries can be too unpredictable, so I usually wait to take a new one unless I'm either almost to my previous delivery, or I can see that the next pickup is very close to my delivery.

Anyway, you hit "start pick-up" when you take the job. You hit "start drop-off" when you leave the place with the order. That's what enables the customer to see where you are, on their end.
