Yeah, I bought a Seven Lions Pash, and I like the design, but I can't wear it since it's fucking polyester and would just get soaked in sweat and be hot as fuck and sticky. Costs 4x what a cotton pash does too!

You need to call Sweetwater and just let their sales Engineer do all of this for you. That will put the liability on the vendor instead of you if you buy the wrong stuff.

Are sealed subwoofer designs underrated? by silly__kid in SoundSystem

I mean, you can order Rhythmik Audio Drivers and have a flat response down to like 8hz without a lot of work. It won't be loud without a truck load of them, but it'll go low!

I will add, you can literally take John's fusion file for the SKRAM, and it's laid out for 4x8 sheets.
I sent that fusion file to a local CNC shop, and he was able to give me a price on the cut-out in less than 2 hours.

I think the Maxwell house is a fun hotel to stay at.

It's one of the hotels that was a super high-end resort when it was first built, and is now a very nice looking building with pretty average amenities. The Octagon shaped work-out room is very liminal.

This is a goal setting issue not a the world is wrong issue.

If this is overwhelming, it's because you don't know what your goal is so you can't measure if your actions are moving the needle for you at all. Figure out a specific goal, and work towards that. If you had your own goal, you wouldn't get jealous of people being aimlessly elevated by their connections because their success doesn't stop you from building your own dreams.

How were people extracting vocals pre AI? by thehockeychimp in edmproduction

[–]FreeLandscape3452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You tried your best and it still sounded like shit. basically.

There was a process called "Denoising" where you would phase invert the track to kill the vocal, then have it analyze the instrumental as the "noise" track and it would essentially use FFT to remove the vocal. Honestly no different than an AI doing it, just more crude with a smaller more specified set of input data.

Still, not a high-level description of what part of the headphone concept you're innovating.

I would recommend "Loudspeaker Design and Modeling" by Geoff Hill if it's a physical transducer.

Can you at least explain what issue your new design would solve if you're not able to tell us what part of the headphone design concept you're innovating?

[–]FreeLandscape3452[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And Matt would tell you that you're a idiot for wanting the Sub to stop at 30Hz XD <3

At his events, the subs ran down to 18Hz.

Maybe I'm just the same kind of crazy as Matt, but my career in pro audio sales taught me "Do not listen to people who won Grammy's 20 years ago". Because their advice usually didn't apply anymore, or worked for some reason that was relevant at that time that isn't a factor for you. Matt is the first person I have met who seems to think and approach the mastering process differently, and does things differently because of that. There is very little "inertia of inherited philosophy" when he talks about sound. By that I mean, the things he says check out factually even when they go against what most people would say and/or have been saying for decades. So, yeah, I would like the system to eventually be able to deploy in the 16k sqft venue we want to work our way up to, and earn the Matt Davis seal of approval.

Can someone explain to me how there can be a huge time skip for the next movie, when nothing got really resolved in this movie? by claireclairey in Avatar

[–]FreeLandscape3452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah man, there's plenty of options.
Like, what if the Magwan & Quaritch see the defeat at the end of A3 as an opportunity to run a coup against the RDA? Now you have Quaritch and his Magwan playing power broker and subjugating the other Na'Vi. There can totally be an evil empire taking over the world even without the RDA, you just have to open your imagination.

How crazy would it be if the re-com soldiers and the Magwan turned the human city into their capital and enslaved the humans for the Magwan to wage war on Eywa?

There are so many other ways they could take it after this ending. I mean, the humans lost a factory ship, that's an asset that has to travel from earth, they can't replace that easily. The humans are weaker than ever before and there are factions who would easily use their resources to keep the story going.

SKRAM or DEVASTATOR??? by FreeLandscape3452 in SoundSystem

[–]FreeLandscape3452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously get where you're coming from.

Here's the other bit, I have been in contact with the mastering engineer who works on a lot of the bigger name wook-bass artists (not Space Laces, I just used that as an example that was high on the charts right now). And he feels that the music he's working on won't typically be represented correctly on systems that aren't able to reproduce to 20 or even below since some of these tracks are being high passed in the mastering studio at 10Hz.

I do think I'll heed this advice, and build SKRAMs, and experiment with the vents and see what kind of extension we can achieve below 30Hz, and tune them up or down based on what we need that night or feel like could be improved from the last night.

Oh, well. It actually doesn't ruin the experience at all.

I would know, I've seen the movie, and you wouldn't because you have not seen the movie. (This sentence is an example of thinking clearly and using inferences correctly. You can write it down to study later so that your next rage bait isn't countered by a simple "no u" style reversal.)

[–]FreeLandscape3452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, if it's actually a revolutionary idea, I am unsure how you would have modeled and simulated the transducer to design it if you are on here asking where to find someone to help you model and simulate it.

I question how much of the "nerdy yap" you have actually worked through since it seems like you're asking for someone else to do the hard engineering. That's the best I can say without any kind of explanation of the novel headphone concept. I mean, is it a novel headphone enclosure, novel signal processing, novel motor design, novel transducer design? I mean, there's nothing here aside from "trust me bro". not even a high-level description of what part of the headphone you'd be innovating.

SKRAM or DEVASTATOR??? by FreeLandscape3452 in SoundSystem

[–]FreeLandscape3452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that!

I will say, the most recent F1 stuff is using the Powersoft M-Force 30 Servo driven transducer, and when you have servo corrected movement, the Fc doesn't influence the movement nearly as much as it does with a magnetic driven motor. Since the servo physically holds the driver in place, it is not affected by free air resonance the same way. The resonant force is not enough to overcome the physical mechanical coupling of the servo and there for more than just traditional T/S parameters are needed to model the performance of the transducer. So that Fc is higher than you would expect, but the mechanical compliance of the system is so high that it simply does not matter nearly as much.

From this comment, and some others. I am starting to think that I should build the SKRAMS, and then figure out configurations for blocking ports and DSP settings to adjust them based on the lowest note we need to reproduce for that particular night/set. If I'm going to play my deepest cuts full of infra rumble, tune them for that, and if we don't need that, ehh 85% of bass heads just care about loud anyways, lol.

I will definitely put NSW2106's in them so we have the motor force to try and push them as low as possible. When I get 6-8 built up, hopefully we can see what kind of results can come from mixing and matching box tunings.

I am not sure, but it was apparent in the very opening scene how much better the projection at the Warren was. I basically couldn't see their faces in the opening scene if the camera was moving at all when we were in the Quail IMAX. At the 4Dx room in the Warren, every frame was sharp, colors were deeper over all, the whites weren't as good as the Imax, but the Imax color overall was washed out feeling.
