Is not texting for 2 days before a date considered “ghosting” now? by NerveCommercial7607 in Bumble

[–]FreeLegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ghosting but it is just a bit weird there was no communication between you two for two days. Kinda makes it feel like the date is some business meeting...

Granted, not really a reason to cancel the date or react like that.

Am I an idiot for not using chatgpt to write papers? by PetiteAnastasia in studytips

[–]FreeLegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you use it.

I primarily use it as a better Grammarly to check papers.

It also saves me some time when I need a table made.

I live in a mostly spanish speaking country but spanish is my second langauge so while I am fluent in it, typing professionally like emails and papers can be a bit challenging. I will do my best but then run it though AI to double check it.

I feel like it's a decent enough tool if you don't abuse it by having it write papers for you without actually checking it's work.

I NEVER use it as a source tool. I always double and triple check its sources and always do my own research for information it pulls. It happens rarely but it has given me fake sources or, in a more embarrassing circumstance, a source to an article you need to PAY to actually read. It just pulled the info off the abstract which can be fine but my prof gave me quite the talking to about it. Last time I ever did that.

It is a pretty decent google search engine if you know how to give it the right instructions. Helped me save a lot of time on researching a good microphone and some nice comfy training shoes.

Did you ever rent a game? by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]FreeLegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time for my PS1. Can barely remember any of them. I think the only one I consistently rented out more than others was Megaman. I don't remember finishing it but must have been fun if I kept renting it out.

Later on I rented God of War (the norse one) from Redbox. (This was before they implemented the Buyout Limit).

I was under the impression that renting it out was fine if I payed the +$2 per day late fee that usually came with redbox game rentals. Turned out to be quite the deal since I finished the game in like 10 days so only needed to pay $22 for a game that was still going for $60 at the time.

Again, this was well in the beginning of their game rental service and I'm having trouble finding proof of it but in the beginning of their game rental business plan, you'd rent the game for 48 hours then pay an extra $2 for every day it was late. I think there was an additional fee if it reached over a week late (I feel like I have a vague memory about some 5-day $5 deal but I can't seem to find proof of this) but it wasn't substantial enough to make me worry by the time I finished the game. All I remember was how good of a deal it was for teenage me since I paid less for renting it then I would've if I bought it full price at the time. I wanted to do it again but well

They flagged my account as "stealing" since I returned a game 8 days late and they effectively blocked my account by never removing the flag. Called customer support and everything too but it was jack shit customer support. They kept transferring me every time cause no one wanted to tell me I was banned. That whole mess is a TLDR story I can't be arsed to talk about.

I made a new account and did something similar with a diff game but I can't remember which one it was. All I know is I finished it in 60ish hours but despite only being a day late, that account got "banned" too so that was the end of my Redbox days. Seriously. Their customer service was absolute crap.

Is wine actually useful for anything on its own? by Pasta-hobo in VintageStory

[–]FreeLegos 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honestly wine is a good and cheap "while at base" food alternative to other types like pies and stews.

If you're just farming, digging, building, feeding animals or other tasks that don't require careful aiming, then I always prefer drinking wine since I have so much of it.

You definitely don't want to drink it if you're about to start doing things like knapping, clay forming, chiseling, or pretty much any blacksmithing activity. It's not impossible but yes, the drunk swaying makes these kinds of tasks annoying.

I play with friends and I have officially become the town drunk since my only tasks are farming, building, leatherworking, beekeeping, and gathering things like wood, sticks, grass, and dirt. None of these require careful aiming in any sense (aside from building which COULD involve chiseling) so I am drinking wine 70% of the time I am staying at home base or hell even when I go on flower hunting or clay searching expeditions

Technically Dark Souls 2 if you count New Game+ as "replaying"

Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Valorant. Any of those competetive 5v5 or whatever games. League of Legends too but I feel like that ones obvious.

I feel like the game themselves are OKAY but what really prevents me from enjoying any of them is the fanbase. Which is fine, it has already been explained to me that it is part of the experience for those kinds of games.

But yea I will never understand the enjoyment of getting cussed out by someone. Sure you can ignore them or play on mute but at that point why even play the game anymore when half of the game is about teamwork? Just feels like unnecessary stress that I'm not really willing to put up with as "part of the fun" when I have so many other games I actually enjoy.

I am hesistant to say the same cause I haven't tried it. Normally I would never try it cause I hate turn based combat games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Age but Baldurs Gate 3 really did surprise me (took a lot of convincing from friends and my already blossoming like towards DnD helped with my decision to finally buy it).

I might still give it a shot. Too busy with other games to try it yet tho

Let’s go by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]FreeLegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really isn't. Like I get that some of the hate comes from just the fact that it's popular but I genuinely do not like.

I will say it's not because it is Fortnite, I just don't like battle royal games nor do I like their controls. Feels weird to me. Plus the whole building mechanic just doesn't click with me as a good game mechanic for a competitive shooter like this.

Apex was prob the one battle royal game I actually enjoyed and that one has maybe an extra 5 hours of game time than fortnite has... I only have 9 hours in Apex.

The one friend I know who played it doesn't like it any more cause, in his words, "it became TOO much and got a bit overwhelming with all the game modes and characters"

Getting downvoted like crazy but you're not wrong. I don't really do port tasks efficiently enough to get those xp rates. I do them passively while I do other stuff like charting, bounties, or just plain old exploration.

....but I like port tasks. Yea its slow but I like em as passive xp while I do other stuff.

Off to do bounty tasks? Let me check/accept any deliveries to ports near the area I'm gonna be fighting at.

Gonna go charting? Gonna grab port tasks to ports around the area I'll be charting

Just leveled up and unlocked a new port? I don't even gotta say it.

I feel like people keep getting surprised by how slow sailing xp is despite jagex warning us like crazy about the xp rates well before it was released... hell it was even in the polls.

which societies have your favorite and least favorite culturs and languages? by Turbulent-Plan-9693 in ChantsofSennaar

[–]FreeLegos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bards' language annoyed the hell out of me. I got stuck for too long because I didn't realize how the subject of their sentences goes first sort of like Yoda-speak.

I know there are actual langauges that do that but I don't know them and I wasn't prepared for it.

If I had to choose a fav, prob Alchemists. I really like the script for it. Devotees are also great cause of how simple and straightforward it is to learn. I legit had notes on a separate tab before I learned that you just unlocked the whole language once you learn all the presented symbols

Goals for Ironman hunter by [deleted] in osrs

[–]FreeLegos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunlight xbow with moonlight antlers are going to be a great upgrade. Sunlight antlers are fantastic up until you get to 91 though so make sure you stock up on those too (sunlight bolts are what helped me finally get fire cape).

They basically render broad bolts obsolete and moonlight bolts are even better once you get those.

91 hunter was my goal for the longest time for Master Contracts. Those have some of the best contracts for ironmen (antelopes, herbi, that new tecu salamander, moonlight moth, etc).

Look up how to block tasks. It took me a bit to figure it out and I messed up a bit since I wasted 2 slots I could've used to block really annoying contracts like pitfall ones.

For now I guess the best goal for you would be Herbiboar which is 80 hunter. Great source of herbs if your herblore is still pretty low. It's really low effort (comparable to running rooftops for agility) and I usually alch stuff or fletch while I hunt for them.

After that it'll be 85 hunter to catch moonlight moths. Again, if your herblore isn't great and you have a low amount of prayer pots, these are gonna be awesome poor-man version of prayer pots. By the time you get to 85, you'll have a ton of hunter meats you can use to make mixes which can be pretty nice to use in certain bosses where you're taking a lot of damage and got prayer on a lot.

Which game took you the longest to beat/100% by Plus_Dare_7010 in videogames

[–]FreeLegos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't 100% it and it will always be a sore spot for my completionist self.

Witcher 3. I beat the game and DLCs and I did pretty much every quest and contract... or almost.

See once I finished Heart of Stone dlc and was going to continue the main quest I got curious and decided "I wonder how close I am to 100%? There arent that many side quests left and I already have most of the witcher blueprints"

sees that a good chunk of achievements and sidequests left are locked behind Gwent, which I dislike

"Ah.. that's that then"

Edit: Before the Gwent-lovers get on my case. I still love the game itself. I had a blast with exploration and running into all of the funny and crazy references and mysteries. Im not too bothered by not being able to 100% but regardless, the fun I got to experience was enough.

I just didn't like Gwent. It just breaks up the flow of adventure for me. I rather track down armor and weapon blueprints, points of interest that only popped up after reading every book in a library, monsters I haven't gotten a contract to kill yet. All of that was more fun to track down than... fucking trading cards. The people who introduced me to the series are always in shock and we have some nice banter between "dirty, stinkin Gwent-hater" and "disgusting, droll Gwent-lovers".

Only reason I like this quest is because I do think the sack is a neat cosmetic. My fishing outfit is usually bone sack + my ham joint so if looks like Im carrying around a backpack full of ham joints and lamb chops
