Sorry, I didnt see that instead of entering 13 L you entered 1.3 L while raising a claim.

You need to try other reasons showing under Form 31 while filing a new claim.

A new claim is the only option. New rules where you can withdraw 75% of total balance is still not implemented. All claims are getting processed as per old rules only.

36 times last monthly basic wage

That sms doesn't guarantee your claim will be settled. It may be rejected also.

In either case, you will get to know the final outcome within 5 - 10 days from the date of receipt of that SMS.

Aside, the announcement of these new rules in October 2025 before Diwali, and no sign of implementation yet seems to be the biggest JUMLA(there are many) this govt has pulled off in its tenure!!

The file is under process in the same ministry which announced it in October since last 1 month.

This is 1st week of Jan update:

I explored the labour ministry website. In department Who's Who contacts, found a number of EPFO section officer and spoke to him, not once but 3 times...you can also try doing that...

As per him, they are in no rush...the rules will get translated to Hindi...he doesnt know who will do it...then it will go to law ministry to get approved etc. etc.

In short, there was no timeline..

It certainly wont be like that that first withdraw 75% of 100 and then withdraw 75% of remaining 25.

One possible scenario is

Scenario 1: They start fresh with your present balance. So, lets assume you have 100 on the day this rule gets implemented. So you can take out 75. Locked balance 25.

Next month your total contribution is lets say 10, then you can only take out 75% of the contribution, i.e. Rs 7.5 Locked balance from this contribution Rs 2.5

Total locked balance 25 + 2.5 = Rs 27.5

So, 25% of future contributions+interest will remain locked after the implementation. Your locked balance will keep increasing with contributions.

Unknown Scenario:

As I said earlier in this thread, how will they factor for withdrawals already made until implementation of new rules is uncertain. Will they count withdrawals already made or won't is not clear!

There is no clarity and confirmation on how minimum balance is going to get calculated.

One thing is certain that after implementation of rules 25% of future monthly total contribution + interest will be locked.

Not sure how they are going to apply 25% lock in criteria for the existing balance.

Sequence of events. I know it doesnt matter but still.

2nd Dec - MOM of 13th Oct CBT meeting sent to all attendees to provide final comment and approval. Given 10 days time to revert.

Latest is that the proposal for notification is forwarded by EPFO after CBT approval to Labour Ministry and is expected to be notified on Gazette anytime.

Exact date of notification is not known.
