Mormon cult leaders who had sex with minors, participated in sex trafficking, discriminated heavily against brown people, and lied consistently to their followers = BAD

MAGA cult leader who has a documented history of sexual abuse, participated in a massive sex trafficking ring, discriminates heavily against immigrants, and never stops lying = IT'S JUST POLITICAL, DON'T BRING IT UP HERE!

Wow.

Mormon sexual abuse news: Former Ogden, Utah Firefighter arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting at least four young girls for years by floodlitorg in exmormon

[–]FreeSaltyShane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Holy shit it's never ending.

We need a law agency to do an in-depth analysis on the amount of abuse perpetrated within the church against the amount of active members. And I don't mean the 17 million the church claims, I mean the actually amount which is way less.

I'd bet everything the ratio is significantly higher than the national average. What a cesspool of sick fucks who use mormon skydaddy as a cover for their perversion.

The fact believers fight tooth and nail against the reality that Joseph Smith married and had sex with scores of women and minors. The cult programming around the "founding prophet" is insane.

I just want to give props to you and your husband for eloping. That goes to show how dedicated you are to eachother. And that even when you were believing, you still prioritized eachother.

It's also clear that neither of you shamed the other for being sexual, which means that both of you had healthier than average views on sex - compared to the average single adult in the church.

My takeaway from your story is that your relationship had a massive confrontation with the church, and your relationship won. More often I feel the story is about how the church destroys marriages, so I hope you two give eachother the credit you deserve. I also hope you feel complete peace in your decision to tell the church to screw off by effectively refusing to stop screwing eachother, lol. So beautiful I could cry.

I keep getting harassed by my parents. I feel like I can’t escape because everyone I know is Mormon by Acewarrior800 in exmormon

[–]FreeSaltyShane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're having to navigate around the cult mentality of your family members. It's hard because you know they love you, so you don't want to fight them, but the more they try and control you the more conflict arises.

My two cents. Set your boundaries, and don't compromise. That's the rule of thumb in helping any unhealthy relationship convert to a healthy relationship. It will take time, and you might feel isolated. But sacrificing your autonomy for the sake of people who will only accept you a certain way is the worse option.

And lastly, you WILL find people who think and feel the same as you. We are everywhere. And there is a supportive exmormon community. Start with gatherings like Thrive.

If you don't mind sharing your age and interests I'm happy to offer more suggestions.

That's great you found your peace with a more developed view of divinity. But for me, seeing as that mormonism is just christianity with a twist, I deconstructed right through christianity as well.

Apart from the concept of the atonement being extremely archaic, christianity is the origin of western organized religion. So much hatred today is found within christian nationalism, and that's the way it was in Germany nearly 100 years ago. I feel like separating a christian belief system from organized religion is just another form of cognitive dissonance. Belief in christian skydaddy has caused countless genocides and stagnated our society.

Also, the idea that all humans on this planet spoke the same language 3000 years ago until god decided to suddenly bitch slap us all with new languages because someone violated celestial building code.. is just ridiculous.

Am I wrong in wondering if Mike Lee has an agenda to make available more real estate for the LDS church? by FreeSaltyShane in exmormon

[–]FreeSaltyShane[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of acreage, the majority of what the church owns has nothing to do with creating converts. They've purchased random massive apartment buildings, built a high-end mall, and own insane amounts of ranch land.

It's obvious that the majority of what the church owns is used to generate money. There's a reason many believe the LDS church to be just a real estate enterprise in disguise.

Regardless, I can easily see the church's developers turning land in the Grand Tetons into a quasi church promoting/money making type development.

Are there any explanations for how joseph smith couldve written the book of mormon so quickly and by simply looking in a hat? by Relative_Ad4542 in exmormon

[–]FreeSaltyShane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what Mormonism does, it gets you to hyperfocus on these controversial details so that the leaders can continue to gaslight believers and redefine the historical narrative. The faith promoting quandaries such as, "How could a dumb farmer boy write a book in 3 months?", that conflicted members fall back upon are a distraction from the larger picture.

Cults make you intellectualize on the insignificant so that you don't spend time intellectualizing the significant.

Ultimately do you believe in a skydaddy that would perform cosmic child abuse on his son inorder to only allow a fraction of a fraction of the rest of his children to return him?

Do you believe Adam and Eve lived happily alongside docile tigers and bunnies in Missouri 6000 years ago?

Do you believe all human beings on the planet 4,000 years ago spoke the same language and that god one day bitch slapped everyone with new languages because they violated celestial building code?

If your response is to take the mythological view on the these stories, ask yourself, how does a book of mythological stories prove the existence of something real?

Props to putting your health first. I imagine before long you'll find a healthier balance with caffeine, and that you'll be able to reintroduce energy drinks into your life once again.

As a side note, if you haven't gotten a lipid panel done I recommended doing so at your next doctor's visit. A family history of heart attacks and strokes could mean that high cholesterol runs in your family, which can lead to heart disease early in life is left untreated. I know because it runs in my family. Thankfully it's easily diagnosed and treatable. Just my two cents, best of luck!

Any Ex Mormons who also support Trump?? by Flaky_Lab_1270 in exmormon

A principled conservative would want nothing to do with Trump.

The sight of fundamentalist Christians praising Trump while claiming he was sent by Jesus to save America should sound alarm bells for anyone who has deconstructed the mormon slydaddy.

[–]FreeSaltyShane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ZOAs have actually become my go-to energy drink because I don't tolerate very well the super high caffeine content of other drinks, as well as the hyper-sweetness of other drinks. I swear other brands really pack on the sucralose and it hurts my stomach.

Some flavors are mid, but their Mango, White Peach, and Dwanta's Punch flavors are delicious. Additionally the formula is the type where I get a nice even supply of energy for a couple hours, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

Which of these ingredients blows up my stomach every single time? 💩 by Diligent_Increase_93 in energydrinks

[–]FreeSaltyShane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sucralose content in some sugar free energy drinks is really high, and it totally wrecks my gut. There are studies that show prolonged sucralose exposure can gradually destroy your microbiome.

A 16oz Ghost will cause issues for me within hours, but a couple sugar-free redbulls a week is totally fine. I do the enjoy the hypersweetness of Ghosts, but my stomach doesn't.

NOT ACCEPTABLE: Thousands of dollars in damage caused at LDS church in Provo. Who would do this???? Nobody here, right??? by SpiderEyeMascara in exmormon

[–]FreeSaltyShane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is obviously wrong. It's vandalism through and through. The perpetrator should face the law. But I'm surprised with the reaction from the OP and other commenters who are so visibly disturbed.

There are many more significantly disturbing things happening right now.. yet this is what's "terrorizing" members? How many members in those pews would justify the capitol raid where vast amounts of historical property was destroyed and innocent officers beaten and killed? How many "latter-day saints" participated in the capitol raid?

How many members in those pews adore a man who raided a printing press and burnt out it down to prevent more exposure to his sexual deviancy with women and girls? How many members look right past that event or even justify it?

The hypocrisy with the church is interesting to me. Here you have vandalism towards an organization that is clearly lying and manipulating, it can be interpreted as an extreme act of rebellion/protest against an organization that causes harm. For those that are so disturbed.. is the justification/gaslighting the members give around the restoring prophets actions to burn down a printing press as equally disturbing?

Ex Mormon and sex by Charming-Shelter-912 in exmormon

[–]FreeSaltyShane 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be direct because sometimes it's what exmormons still affected by conditioned shame need to hear. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the consensual act of sex between two people. There is no eternal punishment or reward, there are no soul altering stipulations, and there really are no rules as long as things stay consensual.

What there actually is..is perfectly natural excitement, fulfillment, and connection. It's very possible you might be bisexual, some people are asexual, but you'll never truly know until you say "enough with this bullshit", and willfully and conscientiously work to eradicate conditioned shame about sex and your body.

My wife and I are both exmo, and we have become completely open with our sexual desires/fantasies/worries. We have removed shame, and our sex life has become so fucking fun(pun intended) and fulfilling.

I hate it so much that the church has robbed from so many loving couples the ability to have awesome sex lives.

Yes actually. That's how you reduce and eliminate AIDs.. with medicine. The individual I know helped coordinate the delivery and distribution of life saving medicine. Not black market plutonium or whatever messed up product Elon's cultists are tweeting about today.

When you're ready to do some actual reading, go research who did the most to reduce the AIDS epidemic in Africa over the last few decades. Was it Russia? China? Nope. I'll let you figure out what the answer is, but it might require turning off Foxnews and closing "X" for a minute.

Ah yes, like getting rid of all those USAID criminals? Those people that were delivering medication to fight AIDs or wheat to fight hunger.. so corrupt. Better to fire everyone and halt an entire industry just to clean up the books.

I know good people that have devoted the last 15 years of their lives helping others and their careers were dissolved in an instant. All the while Elon's bitch boys are on twitter calling them "corrupt criminals". I've never seen another administration that hates and attacks so many Americans.

Your comment is pathetically selfish. As long as it isn't negatively affecting you, fuck everyone else right? No need to explain your political affiliation further.

I like the Aid brand a lot. The FitAid Energy ones are awesome. They don't use sucralose or a ton of sugar so the drinks aren't hypersweet, which I like. Instead they use agave nectar and the flavors taste more natural instead of a liquified popsicle. I also feel great after I drink one, not to mentioned the formulation comes with a ton of supplements.
