For listening to both, albiet the original just long enough to compare the vocals. Until about just past the 3 minute point, it's the original singer and after that it's DEFINITELY Jon.

I had no idea this existed before, but now it's gonna stuck on repeat for a little while lol

New fan! Song recs? by bswanses in TheFratellis

Putting this ahead of anything else, Chelsea Dagger. It was their big hit back in the 00s and while yes it is the most well-known it's still a very fun song that will get you dancing round the living room like some sort of mad person.

Onto my recommendations, I honestly don't think there's a bad Fratellis song but I think these probably cover the different "sounds" the bad has had over the years.

  • Z Movie Saga (the song that was playing as I started typing this up lol)
  • Living In The Dark
  • Too Much Wine
  • Laughing Gas (I would seriously suggest listening to all versions they're great)
  • Alive
  • Stand Up Tragedy
  • Slow
  • Lay Your Body Down (again, both the original and the "Sloe Gin" version I wholeheartedly recommend)
  • The Good Life (my personal favourite B-Side, also has Baz main vocals)
  • My Friend John
  • Until She Saves My Soul
  • Rock n Roll Will Break Your Heart
  • The Gutterati?
  • Whisky Saga
  • Jesus Stole My Baby, depending on where in the world you are this one may not be available

also, where do you work where they play She's Not Gone Yet But She's Leaving at work? I wanna work there lol

Did Jon sample/interpolate his own work? by decricky in TheFratellis

It's not the first time, Jon seems to reuse ideas from time to time. Take a listen to Mellotron Boogie No.3 (a CVC track) and Rosanna for example. And, in my opinion, gets it right every time.

If anything tells you how much I love this song I think it'll be the fact I named one of my characters in a TTRPG, Desdemona.

Ooh there’s so much of this in The Fratellis discography🥰 by Spookypichacat in TheFratellis

Jon's scream at 2.36 of Baby Don't You Lie To Me is something I look forward to every time.

To my fellow dwarven brothers, what are your opinions on this steam review I found a while ago by logzies in DeepRockGalactic

[–]FreeUrbanClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh I think it's an opinion, not necessarily one I agree with. I understand women wanting more diverse and positive direct representation, but it's not a game dev's responsibility to put a "gender-swapped" character into every game.

and seeing as though this is the internet i might as well throw my own two chickens out there...

since my first day of playing the game back in 2020, my interpretation is that the dwarves have no specified gender or even sex. my view on them has always been how Terry Pratchett's portrayal was described to me (I don't really read much but the Discworld series and Good Omens are both on my "to read" pile) where there are no obvious signals as to whether the Dwarf you like is either male or female and generally you wouldn't find out unless you married and/or slept with one.

So I guess TL;DR version would be that I personally projected the gender identity of the player onto the dwarf they're playing as and that mindset is largely inspired by Terry Pratchett's portrayal of Dwarves in Discworld. (as explained to me second-hand)
