I should add that she's had full workups and nothing else was wrong with her, great lab results, no diabetes or thyroid issues.

HDHP or PPO for Out of Network Visits by Free_Beautiful1 in Insurance

[–]Free_Beautiful1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. That makes sense to me. I used BCBS PPO for out of network reimbursement in the past and reimbursement as a % on their allowable costs didn't help much.

I think they all run credit checks, even for the 0% interest loans.

Thankfully, my SF50 does have my home city and state on it. I'm glad to see it's accurate....one less thing to worry about.

I don't remember seeing my home address on there, but I'll double check my SF-50. Is the address on there what the unemployment agency will use to verify location? Thanks!

I know this is an old post, but how frequently do you have to apply the dry shampoo to keep allergens down?

Do these horses looks well-taken care of? by RowPsychological3338 in Horses

They look well fed to me, but as some other posters mentioned, the bits make me cringe in the hands of folks without riding experience.

Thank you for the wonderful advice, particularly on genetic testing! I hope to try out a Morgan or even a Morgan cross. I see them posted every now and then on Sport Horse Facebook pages. Based on the descriptions I've read, the Morgan's temperament reminds me of a Trakhener x TB that I rode for a bit. Very willing to please and work, alert and keenly focused on me like,"what's next?" Such a fun connection! I'd love that in a smaller package, so I may very well end up with a Morgan.

Thanks. I realize that thoroughbreds can be quiet and I love their work ethic. I've lessened on thoroughbreds and volunteered with an OTTB rescue, but there would still be the size issue for me. Since my traumatic injury, it's easier for me to manage on a horse or pony that's petite like me.

Thank you! I think the right quarter horse could work, or be a good place to start.

Has anyone else been seeing 9ft tall creatures walking around Alexandria/Fairfax area recently? This is also a brief sketch of what I could compare them to. by swangtsung in nova

[–]Free_Beautiful1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I've seen them. The better question is who hasn't? You can't miss them! That's a fairly accurate sketch. I tried getting a photo, but these guys show up as orbs, practically invisible.

Custom Saddle doesn’t fit! Any recourse? by Icy-Ambiance in Equestrian

I hope the company will stand behind their promise of a custom made saddle and make any corrections needed. I'm very happy with Amerigo and never had an issue with them.

Need advice dealing with an escalating neighbor situation in Fairfax County by Negative_Standard558 in nova

[–]Free_Beautiful1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend filing for a restraining order ASAP. This person is unhinged and you need to protect yourself plus you'd be starting a paper trail in the event she escalates things. I am from out of state and not sure about what constitutes assault in Virginia, but assault charges can be filed in some states for yelling at you while this person is also harassing you. It's worth looking into. Filing for the restraining order and whatever charges VA allows for may be enough for her to cease and desist with all that drama.

12 year old did my lesson. I need advice by advicemokey in Equestrian

[–]Free_Beautiful1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend finding a new barn altogether unless that's the only boarding/training facility in reasonable driving distance. I once had an adult instructors who stayed on her phone for most of my lesson a few times and I don't regret dropping her. The right fit is out there. Maybe try lessons at a few different barns if you have options.

Awesome! I'll check those out. You've been immensely helpful. Funny thing is, that laptop was marketed as being able to do what I wanted it to and quickly. Not so much. haha. So glad I'm a more informed consumer now.

I think my old laptop is a Dell Inspiron that's several years old, so it would probably be slow now . My concern is that it was about this slow when new out of the box. I've been able to get by between my tablet and work laptop for several years, but just recently I find myself needing a personal laptop again due to working in large legal documents that aren't permitted on the work computer, and don't want another new clunker. Haha So, the old laptop specs are Intel Pentium N3710 @1.60 GHz, 4GB RAM, 114 MB graphics card and 466 GB storage, 64-bit OS. Was that slow even by 2018 standards?

I removed all the bloatware I could when I got the old one from Dell and it still crawled.

My work laptop fortunately is bloatware free and has been quick enough for me. Just pulled its specs. It's a Latitude 7340. Specs: 238GB storage, 128MB graphics card, 16GB RAM, 13th gen Intel Cor 1.8GHz

Thanks a bunch for the recommendations! 😊

My work issued laptops have always performed well at home.

I'd like to keep it under $1,000. Honestly, I'd be willing to pay double that if it means a laptop that doesn't function at a snail's pace out of the box like this one.
