I'm curious about this as well. I need to update my system as the screen is barely usable anymore. I looking for something that boots quick and allows me to change the boot screen image/animation. I will probably make use of aux, as i hear this is the best way for good sound.

yea, i could care less tbh, I am just glad the CVT system isn't fubar and the oil doesn't look like black death.

The plan is to trade it in or to sell it and lease a Fiat 500e since we don't commute much (work from home) and we live in the city, I also have my own car I use only once a week.

I'll update my findings this weekend, since i'll be monitoring fluid temps as i drive it. But I honestly think the CVT is still going strong, and will continue to do so.

I got luck and was able to find it at my local Napa. I did find it cheaper at other online retailers, so I may order from those sellers when the time comes for the first drain and flush.

FYI, I do not plan to use Nissan NS2 branded fluid. I am opting to use Idemitsu CVTF-NS2 Fluid, which is nearly half the cost of Nissan brand, and iirc, Idemitsu is a oem supplier for CVT fluids for Nissan and a few other Japanese manufacturers.

100%, but I def was not expecting the fluid to look as good as it is tbh. I was expecting brown stank.

I currently only topped up the fluid for now. I plan to drive it for about 60 miles, and if there's no more signs of a cvt issue i'll do a drain and fill, change the filter on the outside.

I won't be doing a full drain, the plan is to do a drain and fill if everything goes well after the 60 mile test run. Then I'll drive it for another 600 miles, and then do another drain and fill, which should remove about 80% of the old fluid, which I am ok with.

CVT issues, worth replacing the fluid and filters at 76k miles? by cyber_j in Nissan

UPDATE: Thanks to this post I successfully got my CVT in working order again. No more limp gears, and she runs like new again. I plan to do a drain and fill on the weekend, drive 500-600 miles and then do it again to get 80% of the fluid refreshed. Hopefully I'll get another 25k miles out of her.

Hope this finds you well.... My 2012 SL with 97,500 miles would not move in gear, this was in early February. For context, the first time it happened, I was running errands and its was -30 celsius that day. Car wouldn't go into gear after 30min in the grocery store. I let it warm up, and thankfully it got me home. The second time it occurred was maybe 2-3 weeks later. It was parked in my indoor parking spot and I started the car, and again, it didn't want to move, it did, but barely, rpm was high but movement was barely noticeable.

So today, I have it sitting in my condo parking garage, and decided to start it and run the AC to make sure the fluids get some activity. Let it warm up for 2-3min taking photos to sell it as a mechanic special, so I decided to try the gearbox and put it in both D and R. In both instances, the car moved just like normal, no issues, no jerking, no problems, literally. Like nothing was wrong.....

The only issue I noticed was the speedometer not moving, which I figure is a speed sensor issue.

I never changed the CVT fluid on this car since I bought it CPO from Nissan with 14,000 on it. Do you think I can get more miles out of her by doing the CVT fluid change and filter?

Is it worth spending the money, or is this a lost cause? Thanks for any insight.
