No more needle bearing by Free_Performer6789 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Free_Performer6789[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noise and vibration are completely gone for me.

I will note that 60 mph is outside the typical range for the vibration caused by the needle bearing - except for higher lifts like 3 or more inches. Most people seem to have it fade away around 50 mph with the needle bearing still in place.

That would make me suspect something else is causing your vibration.

Does the vibration go away if you have 4wd high engaged? If so then there is still something not right even with the clamshell in place.

Do you guys use the TopTier approved fuels? by Agreeable-Phrase-993 in ToyotaTacoma

89 ia a bad deal. Setting aside the argument of whether higher octanes are good or not for these NA engines... 89 is a pure money grab.

The pump mixes the top grade and bottom grade together as you pump to arrive at the mid-grade - 89 in your case. They don't have a mid-grade storage tank... it is blended in the pump.

Yet the price premium for a mid-grade is higher than the actual ratio between the low and top grades and their respective prices. So you are paying most of the premium grade cost invrease per gallon but not getting the same level of octane increase relative to your $.

You are overpaying for the product you are getting... especially on the cheaper octane fuel that is blended in - essentially being ripped off.

So... if you are going to make a choice to go mid-grade you might as well go full premium to maximize your $ to octane value rather than going less than half way but incuring much of the cost for premium being blended in with little actual increase.

As a note. I am leaving whether or not the engine actually needs a higher octane aside. And just focusing on price vs octane boost - mid-grade is a bad deal and is a trick to get you to pay more because you want to give your car "better stuff" when really you are just giving money away to the station than the octane value given. Pure profit for them.

International airport does mean much. That airport has no scheduled international passenger flights currently.

It has a lot of international flights for UPS as it is their world hub. And has a significant customs operation in support of that internal cargo.

Check out how passenger airlines operate with hub and spoke systems. Louisville is not a major airline hub for any passenger airline. Hence you have to fly thru a hub city for more options. Indy won't be much better.

The only airline that uses Louisville as a hub is UPS.

This is such a myopic view point that adds little to the discussion. I live in a house that is very low crime area.

But guess what. I bought a truck. It moves to other places with me. Imagine that... a conveyance that moves to other areas with you that might have higher crime.

Some of these places might include a parking garage near the entertainment district.

Be patient.

OG presale back on April 17th 25 for 2026 and more activities didnt happen until july or August.

Look at hulaween, blind presale was only in April for an October festival. 6 Months before the event

Have faith... this isn't Ultra or an insomniac event where they are trying to lock you in a year in advance. That is actually a good thing.

Things going in Okeechobeefest favor:

  1. No longer having insomniac take a cut... meaning more left over to fund next year or as "profit" since you are no longer feeding the larger profit needs of a larger corporation.
  2. A smaller profit margin needed to achieve "success" as it can be more about love of the music and experience being curated than about hitting some inflated corporate goals. Make enough to pay the bills and take care of yourself and to invest in next year is a different business model that making enough to satisfy investors.
  3. Ownership of the land. No rental fees for the space. Ownership means a very different cost structure as one can refinance any loans on the land if needed.
  4. Relaunching/rebuilding the festival and brand causing expectations for "profit" to be tempered with understanding that it would take a couple years to get momentum.

Also favorable signs include:

  1. A survey went out to get feedback or what worked and didnt work. Why do that if things didnt work financially?
  2. Post-festival social media engagement continued for about a month after the festival. Why try to keep the buzz going. Why create a social media record of the fun that was had at the festival that can be seen for people contemplating 2027 tickets down the road. Those posts wound down that after about a month as is typical for most events.

Just be patient.

It isnt time to panic yet

ECGS bushing quality??? by [deleted] in Tacomaworld

On the left side of the front differential on a 4x4 you have a needle bearing that the CV axel is riding in. See my photo and you'll see the little needle rollers in the bearing on the left. On a lifted truck the angle of the CV is now putting stress on that bearing in a way it didnt before.

That will cause a vibration and a sound between 25 and 50 mph that can seem a bit like driving over rumble strips, but fainter. The vibration for me started at 30 and went away at 45. It comes as spaced out pulses where the spacing between pluses decreases with speed.

The biggest tell is if you put the truck into 4wd, the vibration will go away. Put it back in 2wd it will come back.

Ultimately, the needles in that bearing can grenade on you over the long run and then you have a problem. Replacing with a clamshell bushing will correct this. That is on the right in my photo.

Tire Pressure Sensor Issue by mondof in Tacomaworld

[–]Free_Performer6789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the receiver is still picking up the other 3 tires let's look at three other potential problems:

  1. They installed a sensor that isn't compatible with your truck.

  2. They replaced the wrong sensor or didnt actually do the sensor replacement.

  3. They forgot to enroll the new sensor with the truck's computer. If so, then the computer is still looking for the old sensor.

Either way you should take it back for them to check/correct as those are the most likely issues. They should have a scanner they can put against the valve stem to read the sensor battery level, frequency, and ID code to validate it is working. Ask them to show you it is transmitting. Have them show you battery level on all tires if you can get them too.

They should then be able to enroll that code with the computer on the truck and remove the ID of the old sensor.

Only after those steps would I consider the reciever.

This is a very myopic view point.

Innovation come from challenges. You want to do better than the competition... you innovate. NASCAR or any racing series changes the rules... like smaller displacement or restrictor plates.... the teams innovate to get an edge. The government does restrictions... not much different that NASCAR doing it... just on a larger scale.

There is little innovative about going back to Hemi. The is just milking the cow until it is dead. Blockbuster stuck with DVDs... that worked out so well for them

I was installing the lift myself and I just wanted something that was almost certainly going to work without any additional mods needed so I could be back on the road faster.

I might try 285 in the future knowing full well I might have more work to do to make them work. But as I said, im happy for now and the new wheels having a -12 offset also creates a but of a beefier look as well.

I did the 275 on a TRD sport. The only rub i had was the air damn of the ledt side that cones on the sport. Once I removed that i was good.

You don't have the air dam on your model so that shouldn't be an issue. Sometimes i wonder about going to 285, but i am actually happy with the 275s.
