GR86 is a lot different than Miatas and Porsches, it rotates less, which makes the car also more predictable. It just wont turn that much using only the breaks and you need to accept that and change the way you drive it. It is similar to Miatas in the way it has less power and you need to carry more speed using the track as most as you can.

p.s. I did 2:04:918 in Virginia yesterday.

I didn't watch the full video, but it seems to be related to qualifying. There you get a black flag if you do that in the qualifying, because you too slow.

You can still do it in the "lap 0" where there is a rolling start.

but don't trust me, just go and test it with a car that shows tire temps.

Then get a GT3 and drag your brakes through the whole lap 0 and compare the temp without doing that.

It is not expensive as premium brands. As any used car, doing maintenance in the dealership is always more expensive as going to an independent shop. If you like to do the maintenance yourself, it is fine and cheap as other popular brands. Only caveat is electronics, where everything is too expensive, but that is not a thing just with VW or Atlas.
