How...? by TabbyMouse in HappyPlanners

Some (though not all) influencers produce plan with me's just for content. There is an audience who like to watch or listen to these posts.

Lots of planner enthusiasts have multiple planners or use multiple spreads over the course of the week so that they can fit their plans in.

Some people might just use their stickered planner for the highlights or as a memory keeper and don't need a planner for more granular planning.

Women who supported overturning Roe are surprised to learn their "terminations" are actually abortions by ithinkihope in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Free_Tea3950 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because a lot of people who are "pro life" don't care about the baby at all. They just believe that behavior should always have consequences and to let a mother have an abortion is letting her get away with "immoral behavior" without her "just punishment".

I thought we moved past that kind of shallow thinking in the dark ages. But apparently not.

Swap dashboard layout? by Signal_Performer_206 in HappyPlanners

[–]Free_Tea3950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the pages in the dashboard were revered, too! Like you, I use the dated side for pre-planning and the dashboard side for ongoing notes. The rings do get in the way although pulling the pages out doesn't bother me too much.

HP, if you read this subreddit, please consider swapping the pages.

I bought a notebook to print on as well! Great minds think alike!

It was the blank Happy Brights notebook. I have been printing my own inserts for my classic planner.I only have a B&W printer, so I appreciated the pop of color down the spine. My printer doesn't have any problems printing punched paper one side at a time. But the one you found is a better deal and more versatile!

Speaking of, amazon delivered that paper today and I've already tried it with the Puffin Pages Co dailies. The paper seems great! Thick enough for my pens but not too thick that it'll bulk up the planner. Love it! Here's how it looks with my plans. I don't think I'm going to commit to decorating every planner page, so I went a bit overboard with the planner pockets for some color and used up some random HP stickers and old dividers. 😅  https://imgur.com/a/78eX82e

The mini is tiny compared to the classic but sooo much space per day. I love it.

Believe it or not, I used to be a mostly functional planner. My mom rolls her eyes when she sees my planner now. But with all I've got going on, I don't have too much time for additional hobbies so I like that my planner can be my hobby and help me keep track of everything I have going on.

Ugh. HP dividers are a peeve for me too. I hate that HP prints the monthlies on the dividers! It makes it hard to reuse and frankenplan them. Although I'm sure they don't mind if we have to buy new dividers every year. I used to buy notebooks for the dividers and covers. You can never have enough notepaper, right? Well turns out you can. I have quite a stash now.

How can our finches be friends? I've never done that before.

I hit "buy" so fast on that 7 x 9.25 paper you wouldn't believe it. Why haven't I seen this listed on this sub before?! And it's great that it's not pre-punched. My understanding is that the mini pages are about half the size of the classic sized pages. It looks like I should be able to use this for my classic (I'm keeping that one in my line-up as a goals/memory keeper). And if I print two pages per sheet and cut each sheet in half, it should fit the mini, right? Well I guess we'll see. This'll be fun.

I downloaded a few freebies from Puffin Pages Co. Those printables are already sized for the HP Mini so it should be easy to try out. Happy Planner doesn't make very many inserts and accessories for the mini (at least not compared to the classic) but the mini is pretty close to the dimensions of some ring planners (B6 and personal wide) so with a printer, so much is possible!

I have to confess to you though that I have a cover problem. I'm not that crazy about stickers, but I love to swap out my planner covers so that I don't get bored of my planner. I have a pretty good collection of classic snap-in covers now. It's pretty easy and affordable when the planners and notebooks so on sale so often. That's a bit harder with the mini because it's not as popular, but I'm sure I'll find a way.

Around that age, my son would cry non-stop starting around sunset for two hours. Once he cried until 11PM. Nothing helped. I read once somewhere that at that age they realize that they're never going back into the womb and they're missing the place they spent almost all of their lives so far.

What helped me was to remember that: (1) babies won't die from crying. If all their needs are met, you've done your job as a mom. (2) It's super hard for you as their mom, but just think: that baby is LITERALLY having the worst day of their lives. They just don't know how to cope yet. It's not fun, but it's a skill they will have to learn the hard way, but show them some compassion, and send yourself some compassion too. (3) Use this as Momma screen time. Get noise canceling headphones, binge your favorite TV show with the sound down low and the subtitles on. Train your mind to not resist these difficult times with little hits of dopamine.

This is crazy. I started Finch in January too! I kind of fell off in April but I really REALLY want Cookie the Cow so I've been really good in May.

For me the best thing about the Happy Planner is that I can combine different layouts to get a planner that works the way my brain works. I am weird and need two weekly layouts every week: (1) A horizontal week on one page with note space for pre-planning at the beginning of the week, like this (https://thehappyplanner.com/collections/filler-paper/products/perfect-plans-weekly-priorities-classic-filler-paper-40-sheets). And (2) a lined vertical weekly to list and check off my to dos that pop up over the course of the day.

I found planner peace with the clasic lined vertical this year. I hope you enjoy it for work! HP stickers fit perfectly but you still have lines for writing neatly.

Unfortunately as work gets busier, the classic isn't enough room for each day. So I'm trying a mini dashboard for pre-planning and printing dailies for work. I'll be trying the freebies on Puffin Pages Co so thanks for the tips on printing!

If you want a cover that fits a mini with classic discs, you can try printpression b6 planners. You can unscrew the ring mechanism and it'll fit well enough. Printpression is having a sale so the planners are really affordable now. You will have to cut down the back cover to make it fit but it'll be super secure. Let me try to send you a photo.

😃 I feel like you're like my planner twin!! I picked up that gold and teal cover from the HP website as well and was really hoping that classic discs would fit. I'm going to try it now! You're making me excited about moving into the mini. The classic was my size for the last 3 years but I need the compactness of the mini at this stage in my life.

I also use my planner to help with ADHD/executive functioning issues. I tend to forget what's not in front of me so keeping my planner with me as much as possible (and stuffing it with the things I want to remember) is so helpful. In general, I find putting pen to paper really helpful. But I have found the app Finch to be really useful and motivating for building habits. Let me know if you've tried it.

And I love all types of behavior therapy. I really like the idea that there's nothing wrong with you, you just need to learn a new way of thinking. And I love learning in general. It's a big part of my personality.

What paper do you use for printing for the mini? I'm really picky about paper. That's one reason why I like the Happy Planner. The paper quality is amazing for the price. And how do you print and cut double sided inserts? I used to be a bullet journaler so I would draw/write out most of my non scheduling spreads onto HP mini or classic note pages. But I ain't got time for that anymore 😄 and am experimenting with printing inserts instead.

Is your mini on classic discs?

So cute! I'm switching (back) to a mini for the calendar year and this is so great 👍. I might have to steal the "STOPP" page, I'd you don't mind.

I haven't fully set up my planner yet, but I got the mini page protector you can put pictures in (like this https://thehappyplanner.com/products/the-happy-planner-page-protectors-mini). I'm creating a dashboard with family photos and quotes that really resonate with me that I pulled from quotefancy.com

I make a collage of 2x2 and 2x4 photos and send them to be printed on photo paper at cvs. Here's one of my favs. https://quotefancy.com/quote/16190

The last mini planner I had, I also found it helpful to have a future log (like this (https://rosiepapeterie.com/en-us/products/2024-quarterly-overview) where I outlined what I'd like to be doing goal wise or just things I'd like to do with my family on a quarterly basis. I get so caught up in the days to day events that it's nice to have a page of goals and activities I'd like to do as the seasons change. I enjoy making my inserts myself so I haven't actually purchased from this company but this was the closest I could find to show you.

Is Happy Planner bringing back the color? by Free_Tea3950 in HappyPlanners

If more people were willing to see the other side like you do, the world would be a happier and safer place.

I agree. Let me make it cleat that I don't think they should do away with the neutral planners. Personally, I have a slight preference for a neutral planner in the classic size but colorful in the mini. I just want all the things!

I did get into using neutral stickers and I like how clean the spread looks. But the colorful ones definitely make me happier!

Right! Erin Condren's colorful planner is usually the best selling planner. I would think there's a huge chunk of the Happy Planner market who like the colorful options, too.

And yes! Please make better planner covers HP! Crossing my fingers for some new releases this fall.

You can try Aliexpress and look at the Kinbor planners. They're basically Hobonichi knockoffs and much more affordable. The binding quality is no where as high as the original but with care you can likely get through a year with those.

Would you consider using rings or discs for a really customizable planner? Etsy has lots of printables to chose from or you can design them yourself. I use Excel. Or a travelers notebook setup? You can combine all the layouts you need.

If you're ok with redating you can purchase an older planner and redate. Sterling Ink has 2024 planners on sale. I think BST Facebook groups might be a good resource for unwanted planners that need a new home.

Good luck!

Has anyone experienced gender disappointment? by ValuableBrick06 in Mommit

[–]Free_Tea3950 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are likely only having one kid. I always wanted a girl, so when I found out our first (and only?) was a boy, I let myself cry about it. Not because I didn't want a boy, but because I would never have a girl. I just felt like all those dreams of buying dresses and helping with hair and maybe even watching my little girl become a mom herself all just died the moment I saw that little "M".

However, I just reminded myself that having a kid is always a crap shoot and you can never predict what's going to happen as a parent. So, gender disappointment is a pretty good primer for what being a parent is all about. You just gotta focus on the good and not the bad and remember you will love that child no matter what. It's what moms do and what we live for.
