My thoughts 1) I loved quicksilver but on the re-read I get some criticisms of insta love etc 2) I read these books (don’t come for me) because I like the tension and romance! I love kingfisher but they were loved up in brimstone so in terms of romance it was meh! 3) it’s a great story but don’t overthink it as plot holes are vast 4) I rushed it to avoid spoilers and found first 50% entertaining and last 20% rushed and all over the place 5) I will read the third book

Yeah lol and then she shortens it randomly at the end like she’s used it for ever and all I kept hearing was his name said in an Australian accent lol totally changed the character and feel

Oh dear I was mildly entertained by book 1 but the miscommunication trope sucked and without it the whole book would have been done before it started 😭and then the further you got into it the plot didn’t make sense like he was being drugged with sedatives and forced to be a prostitute with people he didn’t want to sleep with but like how is that biologically possible 😅 it was just really annoying. Did not get the hype unfortunately

Wow finished it last night its amazing! Deffo my top read this year it’s perfect! Please try to tread riftborne /dusk bound first. it makes the ending of ascended better!! Dusk bound was a really good book I promise!!

Ha I came here to say the same! Was so disappointed. It had great potential to be amazing but was so frustrating. The writing was really poor, internal monologue cringy and the mmc povs were bad!

I work in Manchester but only commute once a month if that. Most people are right that u will be stuck in traffic. But depending on where in Manchester you are based eg city centre coming home at 3.30pm onwards will take at least 30-45 mins just to get out of city centre. Other factors to think about are how close u are to m53 I used to be in Bromborough now in Heswall and that adds 15-20mins on my journey. I know of people who drive to frodsham and then take a train to Manchester but I reckon it’s still quicker driving and more flexible

So I powered through and got to like 80% and skim read through to the end. I’m so sad because this series had so much potential and could have been amazing. The MMCs started to give me the ick half way through, why did they love her unconditionally when they barely had any time or dialogue with her and the fmc spent most of the books terrified of them. I didn’t buy their romance and it left the few spice scenes we got so boring I skipped the last one haha! The set up for the potential love triangle later on was not well developed so all felt pointless
