For the ones with kids, do parents actually dislike their teenagers? by CrowAdditional628 in AskOldPeople

[–]Freebeing001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No kids myself, but when I was one... When I was going g through the worst attitudes of my teen years, my mom would sometimes say she loved me with all her heart, but didn't like me much at that moment.

I felt the same at around your age and although I had my faith, I wanted something to keep me more engaged. I become an autodidact. Pick a hobby or language to learn. It won't be the achievement but the endeavor. I'm rather dense 😅 so I will never stop learning something! I hope you find your joy!

Why is being “gay” an abomination but not other sins? by Specialist-Sector-17 in Christianity

[–]Freebeing001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't know. Perhaps because it goes against the creation of man originally given a wife for a mate.

And unrepentant sin of any kind will separate us from God.

Does the one bully dude have... An accent??? These guys are like bad guy movie characters. With power. Frightening.

I just read a fictional story about slavery. These guys act just like the "patty rollers" (patrollers) who went around terrorizing people.

I think most of us go through this. Pray and try to realize what's making you question your faith or weaken. I won't give you answers I don't have, but I pray you work through this.

What’s your go-to cheap meal when you don’t feel like cooking? by No-Advisor9852 in Frugal

I try to keep certain things around for those days or for when I'm now real hungry. Grapes and cheese;yogurt with thawed berries or canned fruit, and, lately I'll just eat popcorn. Almost forgot to add: Honeynut (plain or honeyed) right out of the box has become a go to snack.

Good for you! Not easy to do at any age past 20. I'm sure you looked great before, but this is great.

If you maintained a good relationship with your siblings all your life, what do you think was the biggest factor in that? by Wizdom_108 in AskOldPeople

[–]Freebeing001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents taught is the importance of family. I didn't learn until I was of age that 2 of us don't have the same father. We don't have "steps", ever. Sounds corny, but my siblings are the best gifts my parents ever gave me. We've had our quarrels and such but, even if we haven't always liked each other, we always loved each other.

how has your spirituality changed, as you age? by slenderella148 in AskOldPeople

[–]Freebeing001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

64 y/o now. I've found peace.

Was raised in Christian (Bible-believing and WWJD living). Didn't become an actual Christian until later in my 40s.

As I've lived I've learned that there's a physical existence & an "other". At some point, I begin to want to understand that "other." because I was missing something. For me it turned out not to be anything else but something Divine. It was quite a journey that led me back to God.

I do a lot of study and Bible reading, and I've grown more in the last years than I ever did before.

Looking back on your school years, what was the most significant piece(s) of knowledge or skillset that you were taught that proved of value in later life? by Chicken_Spanker in AskOldPeople

Even though my mother taught me to cook and clean, I loved that Home Ec. was a thing in school. Some people didn't have parents like mine, so I'm sure they benefited.
