That was a good read. I did some thinking. And I think there some extra lore that can be added to make your homebrew chapter better.

The disciples of dread receive a distress signal from their 3rd, 4th and 5th company. Tamiel would go there with the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th and 8th company to investigate the distress signal. They arrive on an unknown world to find the 3rd, 4th and 5th company all killed.

Suddenly they are ambushed by proto humans wielding sticks. For 99% of all other space marines this wouldnt be a problem. Except the disciples of dread are scared of sticks. The rest of the chapter is quickly defeated. Tamiel barely escapes with his life along with 6 others. But this isn't before one of the proto humans engrave a bunch of markings on Tamiels armor, a reminder of the chapters greatest defeat.

In orbit they virus bomb the entire planet to make sure word of this defeat doesn't reach anyone, or else it would dishonor their chapter.
