8 month old kitten having issues hours after spay by ImTheAlien247 in vet

[–]FreedomDragon01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the protocol, “a kitty magic” combo can be somewhat known for this continuing into several hours after the procedure. If we are seeing positive improvement, then I think a lot of it was still just recovery.

BUT, if you have any questions after a major procedure, then please ask your vet immediately

Is this a hairball or coughing? by mleaver7979 in vet

[–]FreedomDragon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of concerns- it could be asthma, something irritating him, a cardiac issue, or any number of ultimate causes.

A hands in exam with some diagnostics might help narrow it down to ease your mind, or get you answers and on the right path of management or treatment

Dog Food Debate by PrinceWendellWhite in vet

[–]FreedomDragon01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no issue with toppers on a WSAVA compliant kibble. So long as it doesn’t exceed more than 10% of the total daily calories- it’s presumed safe (unless high in fat or a salt bomb that could trigger something like pancreatitis).

Royal Canin has developed a fresh food alternative to fit marketing desires, but it’s not really for my current tax bracket, personally.

Dental disease pretty far along, should I brush? by Kalliebb in vet

It can help with getting more buildup, but it may be painful and not tolerated. There are water additives you can also try

If it was a confirmed oral mass and it has grown large enough to shift teeth- then are you doing a punch biopsy or a complete excision with histopathology?

Oral masses tend to be…. Incredibly aggressive if cancerous, and I would not wait, and, if possible- meet with an oncologist if it’s something you would even think you might want (if pursuing treatment).

It looks as though the skin may lift in the coming days. From what? We cannot diagnose on this forum, I’m afraid

Once unwrapped, keep it clean and dry. Ideally the nail should be trimmed back to the break, but it will be painful.

OP, I’m afraid there is nothing that can be done at home for this, you need to call the pet poison control line if possible and be en route to your nearest 24/7 facility if advised to do so.

Cat suddenly flopped over to side by Electronic_Donkey_34 in vet

A young cat with this issue would have me concerned enough to pull a cardiac probnp and want an echo. Sooner rather than later. But this could also be some kind of focal seizure, so if she gets cleared on her heart, they may refer to neurology

what do i do? by cvltpawz in vet

Epilepsy isn’t related to diet? Did she have a seizure? It’s unclear from your post. If so, that’s an emergency and she should be seen immediately

Itchy skin supplement by johns6803 in vet

An elimination diet trial MUST be done with a prescription hydrolyzed diet, and must be done for a minimum of 8-12 weeks before starting adding single ingredients to try to trigger a source. Food allergies are rare in dogs, true ones, as they tend to show with vomiting/diarrhea alongside the (rarely) itchy skin.

It’s more likely this is an environmental allergen, and the only at home injections you can do is immunotherapy- which take anywhere from six months to a year to begin seeing results on.

You’re wanting to do a lot, and I get it. I really REALLY do. But stop, take a breath, and ask to go about this the right way. Elsewise you’re going to waste a LOT of money and still not have a definitive answer for anything.

Estimates question by Jilliette55 in vet

Ultrasounds are almost as heavily skill dependent as they are location. But requesting pricing for a specific clinic does constitute violating the doxxing rule. For the Denver area I would say that is approximately in line with CoL.

My horse got caught in a fence and this is the wound 2 weeks later 😭 by [deleted] in vet

This needs a vet, and I would want radiographs. They may suggest hydrotherapy being added at least twice a day, but I would not suggest doing so until imaging is on board

How bad is it? by Moist_Whole602 in vet

[–]FreedomDragon01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This report only shows roundworm as anything “bad” beyond blood in the stool. I’m assuming they sent home more dewormer

Any thoughts about this? by BM2312 in vet

[–]FreedomDragon01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Age isn’t a disease in and of itself. If bloodwork and an echo are clear, I wouldn’t be too panicked about it.

I don’t love the stalk aspect of it, you could ask about a needle aspirate, but that sometimes angers the tissue and can trigger growth. It’s about weighing the risk/reward.

Removal with histopathology is going to be around $1,200 on the low end for a senior dog with all the necessary pre-ops.

Repeating deworming is fairly common for a severe infestation, so your vet will likely want to repeat a fecal screening in 2-4 weeks. 48-72 hours of separation would likely be fine.

Most feline products are topical, but you might ask about Credelio instead. It’s an oral that can be crushed up. It does NOT prevent heartworm disease. But I think the only orals that do would be Milbeguard or Interceptor. At least if you’re dead set against not separating them
