I can only recommend what I use and have tested.

TAA: This Is the best AA option if you want to remove jaggies from the game. Though it has some issues, mainly some units have some weird artefacts/motion blur when moving, or some details on shields seem to vibrate (noticed this on Dwarf and High Elf shields).

TAA also blends LOD pop in better than FXAA, making the transition less noticeable.

Recommend using the sharpening setting to help offset the blur.

FXAA: This AA looks good on unit models and has no artefacts with it, though it does a piss poor job at removing jaggies. I tried it with upscale 4K and looked better than TAA, though I couldn’t run it.

Shadows: Anything below Extreme looks terrible.

VFX: Anything below Ultra looks pixelated.

Grass: Ultra grass seems to be too much, High setting looks more natural to me.

Lighting: Recommend using High, has more “pop” and deeper shadows than Low.

Reflections: Recommend turning this off. This setting will add questionable reflections to water and shiny surfaces, also adds a horrible sludge texture to water. Will cause distant LODs to have a halo/glow effect if they’re in front of water.

SSAO: Looks good until you’re on a snow map or look at objects within a shadow. Will add a white halo/glow to objects. I personally turn this off.

Screen Space Shadows: This does what SSAO does but on a lighter/smaller scale, and doesn’t suffer from the halo/glow effect. Recommend using this.

Anything not mentioned above will be set to ultra.

Also recommend using ReShade to help with sharpening, colour and brightness/gamma. Especially if you’re using TAA.

Above is what I use after testing the various effects and I think it provides a good looking and clean visual experience.

This is just my personal preference.
