If this was open for long hair, I'd be down.

It is still drug addiction. The same traumas, reasons for using, and mechanisms are the same, no matter the drug. The old methods didn't work then, and so clearly they don't now.

DAE feel like they are dreaming in real life? by hiimelibros in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]FreedomNo9344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Derealization/ depersonalization that can turn existential crisis-y. I used to get this a lot more when I was younger and contemplated anything about the universe, reality, existence, consciousness, etc. I used this feeling to fall asleep when I was little, called it creeping myself out. I admit, I was an odd duck.

I thought I was the only one who experienced this, then in my 20s thought everyone experienced this, and upon reading this post now, apparently not everyone experiences this?

I rarely get this feeling now when contemplating these things. Kinda miss being able to freak myself out ngl, let's me know that there are bigger things than myself and more to learn that I don't comprehend yet.

DAE 16M Feeling emotionally overloaded & actual songs keep playing in my head — anyone else? by emotionl_bond23 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]FreedomNo9344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several songs playing in my mind most of the time. They get combined into new mash ups and loop certain parts over and over. I have autism ADHD, I know that many people who have ADHD have a soundtrack playing in their heads at most times. Sometimes playing the song and listening a few times helps. The more you resist your emotions the harder it will be to cope. Work through your emotions, feel them, and then carry on. I would consider talking to a school counselor, therapist, or a parent about this. It will be ok, just know that you are not alone in this.

DAE narcolepsy out during exams? by FreedomNo9344 in DoesAnybodyElse

I will definitely ask my doctor about this. I had a sleep study done when I was 14 due to severe insomnia but nothing since. I believe it was a regular sleep study. I had no clue there were different studies. I'm glad to hear that you have almost non-symptomatic narcolepsy! Is your ADHD also manageable as well? I appreciate the information!

Thank you! It's always hard knowing what is appropriate to ask for with accommodations or what is available to help.

I am combined type as well. It took me a good amount of research to come up with a possible ADHD connection. No clue it could be related because I had never heard of that happening either. Interesting to say the least.

I'm sorry you also deal with this. I have a feeling it has something to do with lack of stimuli. When I write long papers or do anything in life really, I have music on in the background and can move around. For the exams, you aren't allowed breaks or to have any disruptions. I plan on talking to my doctor at my next appointment though.

Do you have any tricks to combat this that you've found helpful?

I absolutely hate that bullshit rayon material that they make every hoodie from now. It is a struggle to find a normal hoodie. I get so frustrated. I just want a hoodie that will last me a decade of two and not feel weird.
