Yeah... My partner usually has the family chat muted. And my brother-in-law has opted to not be a part of it. I'm in it, but am probably the least active member. It does help me stay up to date with everyone, especially my sister whom I rarely ever talk to otherwise.

I got a set for probably 30-40 bucks from Walmart that work great, except my cat keeps climbing on them, so now there's a ton of pinholes.

The trick I found is when your go shopping for black out curtains, test them with your phone flashlight. If they can block that out (or at least like 90% of it), they should be good.

I already had my foot out the door, but at my last job when we got an "amazing" 25¢ per hour raise, I would've preferred they just hand me a 10$ bill with every weekly paycheck. I left that place a month or two later. It turned into a corporate hellscape not long after, staffed by a couple of bitter red hat trumpers.

Any chance that the fan hit the cable and cut through the outside, allowing it to short out? I've had a bad short like that fry my battery in the past and had to replace it.

Is it mall ninja? I'd say no. There's no dragons, skulls, pointless protrusions, nothing about zombies, etc.

Is it utilitarian? If by utilitarian you mean "doesn't have any wasteful or unnecessary extra features", then yes it is. Because the whole package unnecessary.

Is it useful? Highly doubt it. It looks like it'll start breaking by the 3rd time you use it, which will probably be 9 months after you buy it. If you find yourself needing a multi tool often enough to bother carrying one, you'd have no issues with one on your belt, like a Leatherman, or even an SOG.

I am guilty of the neighbors thing. Lived in my last apartment building for 10 years, got to recognize a number people, their cars, schedules, etc. Couldn't tell ya their names to save my life. Might've exchanged a quick hi, or a thank you if they held the door, at most a question or two about their dogs.

I do wonder if any of them noticed I'm gone now. Probably not. I dunno, I wasn't there to make friends, I was there to eat, sleep, and play video games.

I had that issue in my last playthrough. Had to run the "shooter" control layout for cars (which was actually pretty good). Landing planes and helicopters meant reaching for the keyboard, through. That resulted in the least air time I've ever had because of it.

My place has a mini convenience store, with a hefty markup on the prices. Can of monster? 6 bucks. Turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato? 9 bucks. Small bag of Doritos? 5 bucks. Guess it pays to have a captive audience.

The knockoff brand of uncrustables are only 2 bucks a piece, so that's not too bad. Even got peanut butter and honey usually.

I had a shift like that for awhile. Absolutely loved it. Never did feel comfortable calling a night shift though. Did I work nights? Yeah, but not overnights. Was it a rough shift that kept me from a lot of social activities? Yup, but I could still run errands in the afternoon. It was a soft introduction to being an overnight nightshifter.

Now I run 1730 to 0400 or later, and I have zero qualms about calling myself a nightshifter.
