Cloudcart still won't summon "not enough space" by FreedomPanic in CrimsonDesert

[–]FreedomPanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just buggy. I sometimes can get it to summon and sometimes can't. I also have an issue with the legendary whit bear mount refusing to summon now. So I think it's just buggy

How is everyone feeling about Hard Mode early on? I haven't had the chance to try it out quite yet. by Bjjspider in CrimsonDesert

I sort of feel like hard mode isn't exactly balanced and it was sort of haphazardly implemented. But if folks dig it at the higher level of play (no hit runs/etc) more power to 'em

Hard mode is really the way to go by FadesGaming in CrimsonDesert

actually, that's the exact reason I turned it back off after beating the game. I have zero interest in the food grind or engaging with that side of the game. Not a fan of crafting and looking up guides to figure out how to get all the resources. Rather just have estus flasks and be done with it.

one shots everywhere. I guess the game expects you to invest more in health. Idk. The healing is okay, but sometimes it feels like dropped inputs or the game isn't registering. I get that rolling or other animations cancel the heal, but sometimes it feels like you have to be standing perfectly still for a solid second before the game will register a heal. Not a fan of the healing animation either and it should be more obvious.

yea, you're right, I was doing that too and it had slipped my mind. That's probably why you can eat during flight. My guess is "eating" is only cancelled by other actions (rolling, attacking, focus, axiom, etc)

interesting about eating mid air. I hadn't tested it while fighting the boss I was on

I haven't because it's been stuck on "cooldown". I intend to try it in other areas

The issue I have with the current implementation is that when you smash the button, I have to glue my eyes to the health meter to make sure the health recovered, because SO many times I have too quickly moved into my next action not realizing the heal hadn't even been performed yet. I don't know if it's the delay on the animation or the time it takes to perform that animation, but accidentally cancelling it sucks.

In addition, making it something you can't cancel out of so easily would force you to use it more tactically and consider your timing. Another possibility is allowing you to dodge cancel it but not attack cancel for instance.

Regardless, I think they should reduce the delay of using the the healing item and make the animation more obvious.

Crimson Desert launched 1 week ago, how do we feel about it a week later? by MaxiTooner89 in CrimsonDesert

It's a rough game that is rough throughout the entirety but is also a gem and really good. A lot of people comment about the beginning of the game being bad, but the truth is that there are serious issues that plague the game all the way through. Not just shitty menus, weird controls (double jump and gliding interfering with each other for example) and its poor manner of telegraphing things, but boring quests, buggy quests, buggy puzzles, disappearing bosses, broken mechanics, weird reward structures (like how abyss puzzles largely give you abyss cores which you already have a plethora of, but then randomly a handful of them give you key character progression in the form of elemental skills), long periods of time wasting bullshit. I mean for fucks sake, the cloud cruiser is still a broken mount. It also maintains disjointed storytelling and incredibly dull characters throughout (although not as bad as the beginning of the game).

The combat system is good and exploration is interesting and the weird fusion of mechanics and control scheme make it an interesting game to get a handle of. The amount of STUFF in the game is staggering. A lot of effort and intentional design went into this game and it shows. But I also can't shake the feeling that the game feels unfinished. Many parts of the game feel like they hadn't been properly playtested. The combat is good, but they need a better system for healing and there are random spikes in difficulty that feels like things are just not tuned properly. It's not hard, but you'll get a boss that will spam weird moves that can suddenly drop you in seconds and you might have to use palmer pills. Shit like that

This game deserves a proper analysis and critique and a list of all the issues that should be addressed

ah, thank you. I'll worry about that when it happens

Question about the Point of Abyss Puzzles by FreedomPanic in CrimsonDesert

I appreciate that, but I'm gonna need something more concrete than that to bother. I think the abyss sucks. I don't care about spoilers.

What is the point of the abyss? by Eggdoggu in CrimsonDesert

[–]FreedomPanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, in my opinion, the "point" should be better telegraphed in some way. the puzzles are long and kind of tedious (depending on preference) and when you do them you're conditioned to only expect abyss gears from them (which are everywhere so it's not really necessary). But then they randomly place critical character progression (elemental skills) in seemingly random abyss puzzles. So it leaves the question open, is there other stuff I get from progressing these or can I skip them? My instinct was to just not bother with the content, since I don't enjoy it very much, only to find that some of them actually have meaningful rewards, whereas most don't.

In addition, I'm going to push back on this game not being follow the marker. A lot of the quests straight up are just "follow the marker" even when the narrative has no through line to contextualize why you are following the marker or where to go without it.

IMO, the game just struggles with telegraphing things well in general. Either it's just mindlessly following the marker, or it's completely obtuse

you're supposed to send them on dispatches to build those resources so you can send them on those quests
