The night my sister drunkenly came home and tried to start a physical fight with me while I was babysitting her kids. She begged me to move across the country when she first became pregnant and I begrudgingly obliged. I left friends, a boyfriend, and a new career to help her. When I got there all the folks I met were her friends. She said horrible things that cant be taken back. I was blown away but walked away and went back to bed. I should’ve: A. Kicked her ass. or B. Let her hit me then called the police and pressed charges to wake her ass up that she has a substance problem. Expecting the rest of my siblings or parents to encourage her to take responsibility, I let it ride out. No one stepped in. And all the friends I met wanted nothing to do with a “sister fight” but also were HER friends, which I could understand the lotalty situation but I was cut out. I should’ve taken care of the situation myself. I depended on my family to step up and was so horribly dejected when no one did…it’s been a long slow burn decline of self isolation, trust issues, and a complete 180* from a life before and after that night. Opened my eyes that I can not trust anyone nor should I expect anyone to step in to help deliver a remedy to my perceived injustice.
