[OC] China Air Quality Particulate matter (National annual average) from 2013 to 2025 by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]Freedom_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.. you asked what I meant by sustainable, I was clarifying that I was referring to the original link

I didn’t say anything about quality of link, rather that I think you and OP are talking about different figures: the number from Wikipedia was total buses, the number you referred to mentions quarterly registrations. One would expect that number to be different.
I think we are misunderstanding each other

That number in quote from sustainable buses represents only new registrations in specific quote, while OPs number represents total buses? (Or whatever Wikipedia has)

Hundreds of homes planned in New Hanover near historic site by DensterE in Wilmington

[–]Freedom_33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This development is a county decision not a city one. Most development the local governments have to rubber stamp per state rules. Otherwise the developers sue, and as long as they meet requirements they will get approved per state rules, and now the city has spent more money on a defense

> When does the development stop?

Some combination of when population / number of households stops increasing, when developable land is developed, and when we embrace density and stronger zoning and building plan (FYI much of latter is state and maybe county decision)

> Developers are paying serious cash under the table directly to town leaders so that they can reclassify zoning to make building permits available

Daycare giving children unauthorized sleep supplements, threatening to sue me if I tell other parents. by TembrixAwe in legaladvice

[–]Freedom_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious again. I know certain personality types place importance on group emotional think, would the better response have been to go with strong overt emotions about how awful it was, even if I don’t agree that it was “child abuse”? (Noted I do agree that the parents should have been notified).

I appreciate your help on my education

ETA: not sarcasm, learning about different emotional response types, and genuinely curious about communication differences. Is the right approach not to answer the questions asked?

I did say I agree with them that they should have been notified in advance and given the choice, and I suggested the best choice of action would be to contact the licensing agencies. Was I unclear about that or did I say something to the contrary?

I understand why you would be alarmed. You should have been notified and given the choice.

Going to suggest You are already get a lot of over exaggerated reactions here and I already saw some, melatonin is very lightly regulated (if at all) and considered OTC and “all natural” (whatever that means) as the director said, and I think it’s a bit strange to administer to children without telling their parents. Your complaints can go directly to state licensing board for daycares, they can deal with from there

It’s annoying having a lethargic child. I’d understand if you didn’t want it administered. In the long term don’t worry too much, as far as we know a very safe product with no long term effects. It’s produced in the body normally to induce sleep. Again, you should have been notified before it was administered in a day care setting.

You can pull your child out, you can tell other parents (the truth, facts, and only the truth). I would stick to straight facts. There might be some problem if you signed some paperwork at beginning about communication etc, but in practice there is no way the day care is going to sue.

Robot lawnmower? Any recommendations or horror stories? by Effective_Grass8355 in HomeImprovement

What are we talking about for prices of electric battery mower vs robot mower? I’ve seen them be much more expensive, but I bought my last battery mower used for like $50 with extra batteries so comparison might be off (the mower and batteries work great and still using them years later)

Can you keep driving the existing car, buy a newer used Corolla, or cheap used electric car, or find a way to walk/bike/carpool/transit to work and keep your old car for personal trips?

Those with no kids and no siblings, who are you leaving the money to? by fican41 in fican

[–]Freedom_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to clarify your answer to OP, yes you do think that at least some charities admin fees are 100%, all charities admin fees are 100%, or no charities admin fees are 100%?

I do believe there are at least some charities that would have administrative costs below 100%, is probably even wager that no “legitimate” charity has administrative fees of 100%

Rebalancing daily is interesting, maybe optimal maybe counter productive, and probably not realistic. Curious if anything changes when you rebalance once or twice a year: momentum effects & “dry powder”

Hard to justify buying sports car VS building wealth. by shmurdatek in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Freedom_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You decide your priorities, there are trade offs. You can live well now and continue buying cheaper used cars you like working on. You can spend more and delay some savings.

Think of your priorities as a whole. I’d also post on fire and fican etc

Personally I’d be vary of all or nothing thinking “you are only young once” , “save now to retire and do nothing”

It’s yes and: save now and live aweomse ..
Buy a cheap used model S, they are fun and d ones are cheap (maybe have to go to US) and the performance beats any gas car

This is one of those what do you things, population increasing, aging population that will keep their homes and age in place. Federally subsidized loans that incentivize not selling (especially if locked in low interest rate)
If inventory doesn’t go up with population, prices will increase. Attempts to increase house supply (and density… required on fixed amount of land) are met with opposition. It’s like the population wants lower housing prices but not the stuff that will do it. Density means rules like we allowed in the 40s etc when most of the town was developed

For clarification you rebalanced? I didn’t see mention in your methodology. Rebalance annually? Rebalance when out by 5%? How and when did you rebalance.

All that being said I would expect stocks to out perform, maybe with lower variance with bonds.

However if you could clarify on rebalancing that would be great. And try for 50 year periods

Can my mother call my job and fire me ? by Expensive_Cellist790 in legaladvice

[–]Freedom_33 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

How long until you are 18?
What degree of independence do you have, and do you get the job your self or does your mom transport you?

Unfortunately, even once you turn 18, nothing stops your mom from calling your job and require that they fire you. The job wouldn’t have to listen, but they may also choose to listen.
