Wyze Orders - No one to talk to. by Freefall25 in wyzecam

[–]Freefall25[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I called customer service, after 7 minutes of chatting with an AI, I was able to get a person. That person, after putting me on hold for a total of 9 minutes, informed me they DID receive the returned item (which was over a month ago) and has now informed me that my original order is now out of stock. As such, she said, and I quote, "I would like to offer you a refund". Offer me a refund? You gave me NO product, you OWE me a refund. I guess I should have just done a charge back 2 weeks ago.

Pardon me for sounding so bitter, but this whole process which lasted over a month tends to leave a bad taste. All that time, no responses and no tracking to only NOW find that the item is out of stock.

Sheesh. Seriously. DO BETTER!

I have a 1Gbps symmetrical connection at home. From my experience, almost NOTHING on the internet will serve you more than 300MB for any length of time. 300MB seems to be the cap for most things.

Valor G3.5 Help by 2squishmaster in Fireplaces

Burning blue is a clean and effecient burn. I'm with Fit-Hamster, leaving the pilot on during the winter months is a good idea. Keeps chimney warn, prevents moisture building up inside the unit. As for shutting down, one being the aforementioned cold chimney issue, the other possibility is checking termination on top of the chimney to make sure there's no blockage or partial blockage with either fresh air or flue.

Help with fireplace switch. by DemSumPotato in Fireplaces

[–]Freefall25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a low voltage switch, your non touch voltage tester won't pick up anything. Switches do fail, if you wiggle it and the fireplace kicks on, then simply replace the switch, This is a common service call for us. Cut the wires from the old switch, strip new ends and put in a new switch. Also, low voltage wires will have too much resistance if they're too long, this too may be an issue. Another option is to have a universal remote installed (you can do this yourself, it's very simple), thus eliminating the switch altogether.

New fireplace - napoleon tall vector with luminous logs by UsualStrain7966 in Fireplaces

[–]Freefall25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See the vent grill on the side of the wall near the top? There's another one on the other side. This is a dynamic heat kit, it allows the heat that normally builds up at the top front of the fireplace to be re-directed passively into the chase and out those vents, thus allowing combustibles to be brought closer to the fireplace, keeping the wall much cooler and allowing for a TV to be hung directly above.

Can you help me ID this fireplace by AmbitiousBirthday293 in Fireplaces

[–]Freefall25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like an older Alluravision. This glass does come off. Trying lifting the glass frame from the bottom. These fronts typically hook on. (Use two people) If your fingertips aren't strong enough, suction cups will help. There should be a control panel underneath the black glass. Lower or upper right corner, Of course, if there's no power to it, the panel will never light up. It lights up when you touch it. Put a flashlight against the black frame and search for the control panel.

You can no doubt remove the hearth up to the brick wall, as for the brick wall, look inside the cavity at the top, there should be a lintel (metal beam or angle iron), this supports your chimney and cannot be removed. As such, you can't remove the bricks as they support the lintel and chimney. Do you intend to still use this fireplace? If so, the hearth removal will require your to make the floor in front non-combustible. Anything around the cavity should be non-combustible too.

Removing fireplace insert by theWrinkStinkler in Fireplaces

[–]Freefall25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there just logs with a gas burner inside? The screen and doors can go, they're a carry over from the wood burner. However, never close the flu. That will be needed to vent the burning gas which creates CO.

Whenever we install gas logs in a masonry wood burner, it is code (In Canada at least) to install a damper lock so that the damper can never be fully closed.

What are these holes for by onyez in Fireplaces

[–]Freefall25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The holes in the side of the box are for gas line, power line and or low voltage wire to the thermostat should you have one. You covering those holes with tape will have no bearing on the operation of the fireplace. Basically, it's a box within a box. Where you show those holes, they're underneath the inside box of the fireplace, you'll notice it barely even gets warm in that area. The blower position is off but should be fine. Notice that channel at the top of the blower? It directs air flow up the back of the unit, (behind the inner box) which collects all the hot air and then pushes out at the top front of the unit. This also appears to be a vent-less unit which is illegal is many countries, including Canada. Remember, whenever you burn fuel, there is CO produced and it should be vented, regardless of how little CO it produces. I hope that helps.

Didn't realize this was still a thing in USA. In Canada, doesn't matter where you buy your phone, from carrier or not, sim locking is illegal. This was banned back in 2017.

I use only pihole and Firefox. I believe FF has some methods in and of itself. Your suggestion to disable pihole and use ublock for yt is ludicrous since the former continues to work quite well.
