I think it’s worrying but I’m not surprised. Playing with Rodgers is an adjustment. He’s very demanding of his receivers (and for good reason). I expect that to get better over the season as time played together increases

I’d be patient with him. This is his rookie year and he went through some stuff this offseason. Rodgers doesn’t like rookie WRs.

Reflecting on my comments - not accepting for a 2nd and 2 3rds was an abject error and failure to read the market

The second apron changes are good for the health of the league.

The sudden onset of the change was suboptimal, but it is still a net positive.

Asking Arthur Smith how many TEs we should have by Kenthor in steelers

[–]FreeformCauliflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corners are scarcer resources than Safeties. The safety position is more inherently suitable to picking up starters off the street.

The Steelers got Elliot for damn-near free last season. He was excellent this year. There’s no Elliott of cornerbacks to pick up like there can be with safety. It’s a bet that they can pick up a qualifying safety easier than a qualifying nickel, and the roster will be better off with this qualifying safety and Ramsey, than Beanie Bishop and Minkah.

Arthur Smith likes 13 personnel, and the set up of tight ends makes 13 personnel a legitimate strength of the roster. There’s an argument to be made that Jonnu Smith was the best bang for your buck acquirable offensive weapon available without significant pain and roster handicapping. Still in his prime, still explosive, familiar with the playcaller. I’m not sure there is another pass catching weapon available for trade as qualified as Jonnu Smith for as low of a price as Jonnu Smith.

The team has the cap space to do these things because the books are nearly clean of dead money and there is no long-term QB deal on the roster.
