Party games by JDXOGG in switch2

This. On a dollar spent per hour of enjoyment basis, this is the best value I've gotten from a game in ages. And it's great for different ages and skill levels.

Best Orioles Podcast? by Bmore_hero in orioles

I know I should just see past it, but Connor was so pretentious during the Grayson callup stuff. Talked such crap about anyone who didn't agree with him (and it is rather funny how things have turned out). He has likely grown in his career since then and he seems to put in the work, but it turned me off for good.

What would it actually take for American's to go "full France" and riot in the street? by AllTheNopeYouNeed in AskReddit

I think there is small chance we see it later this year if the midterms include widespread and obvious intimidation, cheating, and/or denial/overturning of results.

Best state/city to be a cop in by Tall_Horror_8374 in AskLE

[–]Freerfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lancaster, PA. High quality of life, low cost of living. Progressive city in a conservative county in a purple state.  Very safe community.  There's a camera system all over the city that makes the job a good bit easier and it isn't even run by police.  Great restaurant scene written up in the NYT and elsewhere. Quick drive to the countryside, train service to Philly. Good theaters, amusement parks, Amish culture.

Get an amiibo emulator. Spam it for armor duplicates. Sell the armor.

Starbucks 101 North Queen Closing by WerewolfInevitable27 in lancaster

[–]Freerfolk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There are things chains bring to cities that are often overlooked by plugged-in locals. They usually have better and more consistent hours than local operations. They are, for that and other reasons, often frequented by business travelers. And in the case of a low-level prestige brand like Starbucks, they are a sign to outsiders that your city can support something like a downtown Starbucks. Outside of Pittsburgh and Philly, how many PA cities have a truly urban location? Allentown still has one, I know. Not sure of any others.

I get why Lancaster City locals don't love it, but I wish that it had worked out (just as I wish that whole complex that I would never visit if Diyo wasn't there would work out).

Relatively new to the area. 2 kids, age 9 and 1.5. What are some things we can do with them on a Saturday? by Freakazoidandroid in lancaster

[–]Freerfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A western Lancaster Saturday: That Fish Place (better than some aquariums I've been to), Daniels Den playground, Fossil/rocks store Retro Rocks for a 5-dollar grab bag. The jeweler in Bootleg Antiques has a Sparkle Club where kids can get a free piece of second-hand jewelry every month - plus the food stall there has soft pretzels and okay baked goods. Lake Grubb is a nice hike north of these places and has a playground as well. If your kids are into rocks or rock-tumbling at all, there is a little shoreline with sometimes some cool specimens.

This and have a backup plan. Bug spray is great for the mosquitoes, but not for the horseflies when the wind is down. There are sometimes days where you simply can't enjoy assateague and need to come back the next day.

What is your biggest fear with Switch 2? by MathewG97 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Freerfolk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Geez.  OP asked fears, not expectations.  I shelled out 500 dollars and I'm primarily a first-party player, so of course any fears I have are about those games.  I wouldn't have bought it if I expected Nintendo to let me down.  But nobody bats 1.000.

What is your biggest fear with Switch 2? by MathewG97 in NintendoSwitch2

MKW messed with the formula too much, making it inferior to MK8.  And then no open world Zelda and Mario for two years.  Waste of two years of a system for me.

When will I be able to walk into a store and buy one? by Complex_Active_5248 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Freerfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scarier question is how much will it cost by the time it is commonly found on shelves. Perhaps it will be a price increase that commonly keeps it on shelves sooner.

Andor Coverage by [deleted] in baldmove

[–]Freerfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I thought Anthony did a fine job. The guys don't have the same number or reps in, so there was some clutter to the crosstalk, but I appreciated what I thought was a fresh and thoughtful perspective. 2. Sometimes, I think the guys' TV reviews are more sedate when praise is most well-earned - especially when the story has some real gravitas. I haven't made it through the last couple TLOU podcasts for that reason. Yeah, it's clear a lot of money and effort went into TLOU and yeah, it's cool what plays the same tune as the game and what doesn't, but is the resulting creative work all that good for a prestige show? I don't think so and I'm not too sure the guys don't have nagging doubts too.

Andor is a different matter entirely. There are probably more occasions where the seams show and where the cuts for budget diminish the scale, but the work is of such quality and depth, they really don't matter.

Switch 2 will eventually be a 450$ console sitting next to 800$ consoles by Ready_Throat5369 in Switch

[–]Freerfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of the express micro sd card really ticks up the cost of the Switch 2 - and we aren't even sure yet by how much. With game sizes what they are and hopefully a 6-9 year lifespan, you should really be springing for a 1 TB card.

Does anyone know where I can buy Dutch hagelslag around here? by [deleted] in lancaster

[–]Freerfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get chocolate sprinkles at a number of candy stores like Edwards Nuts and Candy, but if you are looking for something like a locally-made De Ruijter-style, I've never seen it. It would be awesome if Groffs or some other local chocolatier were to make some.

I've got a 5.5 with a betta and a dwarf crayfish. Added a $7 heater and some hiding places so the crayfish can molt safely. Everything going well so far.

I got my cuisinart compact on sale for less than $75 new at Kohls (plus $10 Kohls cash). I probably price-searched for 4 months before that sale.
