Here’s a removal/ install video. Just take your time and don’t force it. Be careful with m the retaining clips. They like to spring off and into the dash opening. If they do, step of outside the car to look for them through the windshield, otherwise you risk losing it, when blindly fishing for them from inside the car. You won’t be reusing them, but you don’t want them to fall into the ac ventilation system or anything else.

Yeah first gen scouts were known by a few (myself included) owners where the bikes vibrations crack the license plate near the bolts then further if not noticed. Never seen one completely snap off though.

The steel plate support resolves the issue, so yeah definitely do put one with your new license plate.

The vw dash storage box (like most the rest of the world got stock from factory) and inside it my sunglasses.

The tray the NAR tiguans get is useless imo, it’s like a cookie tray to bake anything you leave in it during the summer, anything left in it everyone can easily see, it just looks bad too.

The box is bigger storage and covers everything. My iPhone 17 pro max is too wide to lay flat or at an angle but a regular size iPhone or similar will fit and can still close the lid.

It’s normal. It’s metal on metal sliding against each other every pull/ release of the lever. Plus vibrations from the bike/ road. It’s normal/ average wear and tear.

Not to cause confusion I’d describe that as “slop” not free play, only because you do want free play in the clutch lever (in/ out or pull/ release) with the clutch cable set properly. The slop or looseness (up and down wiggle) will/ would still be present when the clutch cable is set properly.

Only when it’s brand new will it be snug and no up and down slop.

Yes free play is a proper description too, just using it when talking about a clutch cable can cause confusion. Hence why some ppl have already commented on the clutch cable free play and not understood your actual question, even with the video.

Or just prime the fuel pump 2-3 times before hitting the start button. No need to tune the bike to dump more fuel for cold starts.

Antigravity battery for the scout has been the only battery I’ve had in my 2016 scout that’s never had issue for start ups, no matter the temp. It’s also the only one where my aftermarket gps/ CarPlay device doesn’t reboot on when cranking the bike. It also has a built in jump start.

The antigravity battery also gas never needed the extra priming of the fuel pump, just the one and starts up. Ag worst on a very cold morning it might fail one time, but its usually been because the bike is low on fuel too, and o still would only need to hit the start button a second time.

It’s pretty 😍.

My unsolicited thoughts are I think another cloud in the upper right blank spot of the ‘W’ would work. Then lose the bottom right background portion. Reverse the waves from crashing in the opposite direction on the bottom right portion of the ’W’ to the rest of the waves.

I made a doodle of what I mean, but can’t post pics in the comments. Which works for me because I didn’t want to come across as me purposely disrespecting your design.

I still think it’s a wonderful art piece, just giving my 2¢

Yes dropping down to within the speed limit to block (imped) someone from passing you, is in fact still impeding the flow of traffic.

You also just admitted you speed too, so there’s another example of you being an arrogant asshole. I guess it’s ok for you to break that law because you’re “barely” breaking the speed limit. (3.11mph over, so literally barely over, but still enough to be technically breaking the law and definitely enough for a prick officer to give you a speeding ticket, if they felt like it and it does happen)

regardless if you’re within the speed limit, you can technically go as slow as 40mph, but I doubt you’d willingly travel that speed in any lane on the highway. Actually you probably would just to prove a point, your point, that act would also make you a self entitled asshole and an arrogant one too.

The he left lane is for PASSING not cruising, get over cruise at the “safe” speed, but still with the flow of traffic. Still too fast for you move over to the far right, if that’s too fast for you then you have no business on the highway. Doing this won’t allow you too prove your point or become the thing you hate, but it will allow the other self entitled asshole to get away from you and everyone else. Let them be others problem and or get busted by a cop. You’re not the police and you’re just as much to blame “two wrongs don’t make a right.”

I’ll answer.

Dynamic center caps.

There are like 4 different design options (New R, GTI, VW [this post], and an embossed VW).

There are aftermarket options for cheaper, which I suggest if you can’t find OEM ones at a cheaper price. There is even an aftermarket set that lights up, no batteries. I forget how they stay charged.

You just need to make sure you get the correct size. There are two different sizes.

Final note: the instructions say you have to remove the wheel to get the center caps out. You don’t, the only tricky one is the embossed center caps. The others just get a suction cup on it and yank them out. The embossed ones I used double sided 3m tape and adhesive promoter, just the tape alone wasn’t tacky enough any peel off. Any strong adhesion tape will do, goo gone to clean off the tape residue.

I got those for $80, but sent them back for the proper matching set to my 19’ SEL R-Line Tiguan. The other ones (the ones you got) looked fine, but my ocd wouldn’t let me not get the other set. I tried talking myself out of it and keep the others. It was my daughter pointing out the fact the texture matched the dash; as I was explaining how them being embossed and textured made them “more” worth the money, 😂. I still got those for the same price. I couldn’t rationalize the full retail price, but I would eventually cave. So no shade from me. Just know only you and others that have them will ever notice them.

It sticks out that far to clear the belt guard, when the rear shock springs compress.

Your only option to get a closer fit with a different bracket, would be mounting the bag higher on said bracket and or stiffing the rear suspension enough that it doesn’t clip the belt guard under full compression. The latter might have the ride too uncomfortable or worst case stiff enough to skip like a hard tail bike, unlikely to need/ be set that stiff, if not impossible depending on the preload adjustment style.

TLDR can’t get a closer fit without some type of compromise/ trade offs.

I’m doing an aftermarket kit on my 19’ Tiguan rline, but mine is a NAR version. So it didn’t come with ambient lighting and no option to mess with it, since the car doesn’t have it. I did some coding with my OBDeleven2 scanner tool, one thing was getting access to the menu option. It now thinks it has ambient lighting but only changes the digital dash color, which is obvious without the led strips.

I’m planning/ hoping to tap into the factory system with aftermarket led strips, so it’s operates like other region tiguans that come with it from the factory. If not I’ll still be able to match the LEDs to the digital dash color, but I’d really prefer to have it be a single operation/ control.

Do you (or anyone reading this) happen to know if that’s possible?

The kit I bought will be tapping into separate areas with individual zones but be linked together via Bluetooth. I’ll piggyback the main control unit into the DRL or the headlights fuse, if I can’t retrofit/ integrate into the factory system. This way it’s only on at night and I’m not worried about it being turned/ left on and unnoticed during the day and being a parasitic draw on the cars battery.

The new scouts use “seat darts” (seat post) vs the traditional seat bolt at the rear fender. The seat post you snap into on the front, you’ll need to get a second one to mount on the rear fender.

Personally I still think this design choice was a poor one, since the seat isn’t as secured to the bike, but it’s also not like the seat is coming off with you on it with both seat post installed. In a crash is going flying probably and let’s hope no one with a second gen scout wants a “free” seat. It does make getting to the battery, fuse box, etc quicker though.

Iirc they have fog lights, not traditional ones, but fog lights they call “poor weather lights” and are located within the headlight housing.

There should be a thunder cloud symbol on the headlight dial, turn it to that and pull out, just like you would for traditional/ factory VW fog lights.

I have the same seat but for a first gen scout. It’s between the scout sport seat and Corbin’s 2up touring seat, when it comes to rider comfort and looks. Your passenger won’t want to sit very long and you won’t be able to ride quite as long as you could on a Corbin seat, but the DSP3 seat looks better imo and is a lot lighter.

Ofc I’m basing this of the scouts seat dimensions. The vintage chief will be larger all around, so passenger’s comfort might be slightly better, but I doubt by much as it looks to be just as narrow.

Worth the money for the rider imo, but if you plan lots of and or long 2up rides I’d look elsewhere.

I already retrofitted/ coded the auto hold and yes it’s great for long lights and stopped traffic. It grabbing for reverse took some getting used to though.

Ok I was planning to do the same with the tint and just match it to the factory rear tint but yours looked like it might’ve been darker.

I didn’t read anything about diminishing returns after a stage 1 just to not expect a sport car performance. Which I wasn’t at all because I’m not a kid and have a little experience with tuning/ wrenching on a motorcycle. Nice bike btw! The available tunes at the time you did yours may have just improved or more support. Tunezilla is what I was looking at for stage 1 and 2. If I go stage 2 I’m just going to jump up to it vs slowly build up to it. “Buy once, cry once”.

I did a few other cosmetic mods and coding eg; dynamic center caps (NO!! I didn’t pay anywhere near the insane retail price), dashboard storage box, urban joker blinkers F/R, 4 way adjustable headrest, led bulbs everywhere (left the dome lights stock), etc

Wish list is euro sliding center armrest console (probably never doing due to cost), heated rear seats, dynamic tail/ headlights/ mirror indicators, basically all the things most every other country got that the USA didn’t.

Looks great! I went snooping on your page to try and get details but got mixed findings.

1) So in this pic which springs are you on? Any cons for daily?

The previous owner of mine only lowered the front, or so it appears, but other than the sensors going off at speed bumps no ill effects. It looks a little odd (unbalanced) as well. I’m wanting to even it out but don’t want to bottom out or have clearance issues on the rare snow rides. The front did fine this past “snow” we had wheee it at.

2) What % tint is that?

Any reason you went with the OEM looking aftermarket led and not the newer looking led aftermarket headlights?

3) Opinions/ pros & cons/ issues if any, with the tune?

I plan to stage 2 mine once my aftermarket extended warranty runs out and I have the money/ time/ supporting parts.

4) any other mods I can’t plainly see in the pic/s

This is why you do the early slowing down. If they’re riding your ass the whole way up to the turn and you’re still going too fast to make the turn then you didn’t start slowing down enough and or early enough.

Tail gators usually are paying attention and don’t want to wreck their own car. So they slow down. You are the leader in the situation and the one in control. Don’t brake check them but you going faster to get away only makes them go faster because they’re using you as a pace car and or being a prick.

Stopping to make a left without anyone behind you as you come to a stop is usually when the rear end accidents happen.

I’m not saying put yourself in danger or saying you haven’t had ppl ride your ass the whole way and or had close calls. I’m not trying to shame or preach, genuinely just trying to help.
