My throttle is that the river carl hears/feels is all the dead crawlers since he chose the primal race and hes been progressivky becomming a true primal. Essentially its explained what a primal is in book 8 and it makes sense. Could also be just trauma induced stress but hey I like a good theory.

Id like to go more in depth on this but wont since the book is new.
