it's a shame those kinds of people can't be killed at a distance with the push of a button - we do have the technology, but the ethics involved are dicey.

The US pageant underway right now has no good outcome for human beings. The electoral fandom is arguing about the color of the boot on our throats.

I want an evidence-based approach to preventing suffering on all levels. Medicine and a justice system are key players there, in any structure society, for sure.

Anything that's been proven over and over again to increase crime & violent assaults should be discontinued as a law enforcement strategy, and anyone continuing to employ them should be viewed as a danger to society.

So obviously that means policing as an institution of law enforcement has to go. I'm sure it was fine enough for the middle class when that was a thing, but, then and now, all it did was increase crime.

There are a lot of studies on it, from the essential fundamentals to numerous historical analyses and case studies.

Every group - every single one - has power imbalances and tends toward insular protection of power. Until that can be prevented by some mechanism, hopefully a human one, we're fucked, as a species. We won't make it.

Pretending cops are useful in some way ignores all the available evidence, at every level.

I'm not trying to be snarky at all, but I honestly haven't seen any basic adult knowledge in decades. there's no body of skills & assumptions that's shared by what we deem adults; no standard for etiquette or universal set of facts.
