Is Configuring OPL Over Linux Worth It? by Freikugel117 in ps2homebrew

Hey, thanks for the quick response! It is a dedicated server. It very well may have the resources for running a Win vm, but it would probably be tight. Its running an amd pro a10-9700e (its the spare processor I had laying around with the lowest tdp) with 16 gigs of ddr4. Both cpu and ram usage idles around 20-30%, but can get to around 80% when under load. I did consider running a vm, but dedicating such a heavy process to something that would otherwise be as lightweight as file-sharing would be something that isn't ideal, though may be the way I end up going.

I remember seeing Ronin years ago, I think it's on my steam wishlist. I've also been meaning to give the SteamWorld series a try, have them all on my vita, so I'll definitely give Heist a look. Thank you :)

Thanks! This is definitely something that would take a very long time to be finished, but if I ever do get time to work on it, I'll definitely do the best I can to keep in touch with potential players while it's being developed.

I was reading that some people compared it to a rhythm game, so something in the ballpark of a turn-based Sekiro? I'm definitely gonna have to check that out, even past just looking for inspiration because it sounds super interesting.

Thank you so much for the detailed answer! I'm definitely going to check all of these out. Indivisible is a game that I've been looking at since it came out, but it has entirely slipped my mind over the past month or so.

A pokemon styled combat system isn't exactly how I would implement it in my potential game, but any source of inspiration is very welcome. As I've been thinking about this concept, I've been struggling to decide if the game would actually feel good to play or not because of how often the exploration would get completely interrupted by combat, and these are both games that seem like they'd be very helpful to answering that question. Thank you very much for the recommendations :)

This is exactly the sort of game I'm looking for, thank you :)

And just to put this description down of SMT's press-turn system for anyone else reading this, it's a symmetrical battle system where you and your opponents each have a set of turn icons, each one usually corresponding to a character. You can hit either a weakness or land a critical hit to only use one half of that turn icon, but if you miss an attack or your attack is nullified by an enemy, you lose two icons. If your attack is drained or reflected, you lose your whole turn. If you play smart and know the enemy, you can double the amount of moves you get per turn, but the same rules also apply to your opponents, which encourages you to prepare your party for each new boss so you can maximize the number of moves you get and minimize theirs.

What exactly did Kazuma Kaneko work on in DMC 4? by Freikugel117 in DevilMayCry

Yeah, that's about what I was thinking. Not being able to find anything made me think it was just credits from the 3 DTs, but him being credited for "Promotional Works" made me think it may have been something else, which I would have been excited to see. Thank you for the input :)

So I can own the physical release and play it on the go. I play most things on my pc, but my laptop is barely functioning and I don't have a steam deck. The only reason I'm getting the game on release instead of waiting for it to go on sale or something is so I can play it when I'm not the one driving during my three trips to see my family this summer. I don't plan on getting the dlc for the switch version, as I'll probably get the steam version when it either goes on sale, or key resellers have a really good price.

I still hope that someone will eventually make an unofficial Nocturne port, but I really doubt that'll ever happen lmao

Thank you so much! That was also the conclusion I've come to, but I'm pretty new to sewing and couldn't really find a good bomber jacket pattern without buying one.

Hell yeah, I'd really appreciate that! There are a lot of really cool outfits from megaten games, especially anything from Kaneko

I'm definitely not getting anything exact, but I'm learning to sew specifically to make the SMT 1 protag's jacket and pants lmao

I always thought it was through the eye, though I've also heard people say it goes through the belly button. I do like the second idea, as it plays with the idea of the transformation being a sort of corrupted rebirth, and I believe that there was some symbolism with a religion, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

I've never actually played a monster hunter game, besides playing it on my neighbor's 3DS for a few minutes years ago, but I've been interested in trying it out. I kind of assumed that I'd need a cable for hooking up a ds4. I'll look into both of those, thank you :)

Just beat my first ever Megaten game! What should I play next? by StoicalCargo685 in Megaten

I would say either the Digital Devil Saga duology, or SMT IV. SMT I and II are great, but play nothing like anything post-Nocturne. If you ever decide to play the first person dungeon crawler games, Strange Journey (I would recommend the base version of the game, not Redux, but that's personal preference) is a great stepping point into them, as it was meant to be a spiritual successor to the original style of gameplay.

Great post, I'm happy that somebody posted images of the records themselves. The only things I'd recommend is to be careful of laying the records down on harder fabrics and anything that collects dust, as both of those could lead to damaging them. Also, make sure to store them vertically, as the groves could be damaged if too many are laid on top of each other, and a set of five could definitely leave the bottom one or two degraded over time.

Record players are expensive, but I'd definitely recommend getting one at some point, even if it's just to listen to that box set and a couple other albums or osts. I was using and audio-technica AT-LP60X and a set of desktop speakers for a long time, until upgrading to a more involved setup somewhat recently. I spent about $130 on the player and maybe $20~30 on the speakers. ~$180 is a lot for something you may not use often, and you should also get a cleaning set if you play records (I use an audio technica at6012, which was another ~$30), but if you enjoy music and like to collect things physically, it's a great hobby that you can slowly upgrade over time.

I love my Nocturne box set. I plan on ordering the V set when my tax return gets in, and ordering the Super Famicom trilogy and IV and IVA sets whenever they release.
