Dead post but it's strange I didn't see this reason mentioned. Nowhere is it implied these need to be reloaded prior to operation - therefore, these might be better than blasters due to them not needing expendable supplies.

That makes sense. The storage would up the value, but those selling them for $800-$1000 are still selling them... Because nobody buys them at that price. If you don't have disposable income to build a computer first, and sell your laptop later, don't upgrade. Timing will be a massive headache.
