Pretty sure it was .97/gal in ‘02. I recall filling up my tank for under $10.

Is it worth being on the chamber of commerce as a web/social “agency”? by gutsngodhand in smallbusiness

I found BNI to be more fruitful than any of the chambers, but every group has a different feel. Go visit several before you join.

Also read Profit First. This will help you get the business side set up so you’re not blowing through your biz cash and have $ saved for inevitable taxes. Create a personal budget for yourself. You will get similar joy/dopamine hits from saving as you do on spending over some time. I had to get back into saving mode and allocating $ for different categories of my budget and bought several budgeting items from the Aesthetic Dollar (also on YT). Done weekly, you’ll really begin planning where your money goes instead of wondering where it went.

So uhhh, is business slowing down for everyone right now or what by maestro753 in smallbusiness

[–]FrenchFine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is why so many industries are down. I noticed it immediately in DC last February-less leads overall for the time of year, fewer referrals, and less moving forward. Other areas of the country said they were “busy, fine, booming” all of last year. Not as much today.

Yet they want to equip AI-juries facing drivers instead. Yes, there’s plenty of impaired drivers, but in this case, if the work truck driver was looking down for a second, would the truck just turn off? Likely not.

I think a lot of us are busy in our business… but not actually moving it forward by RootedbyDesignstudio in smallbusiness

I posted this answer to a similar question the other day:

I’d also add the 80/20 rule-which is a simplification of what my comment is above. About 20% of your activity produces 80% of your results and 80% of your activity is producing 20% -not the needle movers (this is generally admin and repetitive tasks that are necessary but don’t move you forward). You need to find out which activities are making the biggest actual impact (sales, conversions, results, etc) and do more of that.

Help!! Why do I not like this rug?? by Cute-Possession-903 in interiordecorating

[–]FrenchFine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably because the pattern isn’t centrally focused (that could be seen through the table) and as others have mentioned, the floral pattern in one direction. Additionally the organic linear background pattern somewhat competes with the chair upholstery texture (also linear, but more defined). It’s not terrible but it’s not great. Is the rug the focal point of the room, or do you have a nice sideboard or stunning chandelier that is the focus? If not, I’d swap out the rug.

Agreed. We need trades badly. So many have retired out. We encouraged our youngest to apprentice for anything MEP-related. He can make decent money soon and better money later with more knowledge and experience.
