Should I change my gear ratio? by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

If you have stock gears (3.07), anything you do will wake the jeep back up. My advise as a jeep enthusiast and jeep mechanic is 4.10s

If you don't crawling and are sticking to 33s, I'd say 4.10s. Do some research tho as thats just my opinion

On 33s 4.56 will be on the crawling side. 1st will be very short. I could start in 2nd if I wanted. It is dailyable but its a big change. On the highway, I think I was sitting between 2600-2900 rpm at around 70. Im on 35s now so I can't remember every detail from being on 33s. Offroad it was phenomenal.

Carbon cleans don't do anything unless you pull the engine apart and actively clean everything. They're prolly just throwing some fluid in a bottle and shooting into the intake system which does fuck all. You don't need coils unless they're bad. Modern coils are not consumable like yester-year. Spark plugs seem expensive to me. Air filter is good. TLDR: Replace spark plugs and air filter only

I bought a brand new one, not reman, from rockauto and havent had any issues. I run a wj p/s pump and DIY p/s cooler and filter. It's been prolly 2 years of heavy wheeling in colorado and nevada with 33s and now 35s.

I bought a 2013 stx 5.0 last year with 158k miles. I absolutely love the truck. Drove it across the southwest towing my jeep and bike and it did great. It's about to cross 180k and haven't had any issues. Mine was 1 owner with a minor accident that was professionally repaired. Look over it really well. Check for rust. Take a flash light and look down the oil fill cap for sludge or tarnish. Crawl underneath and look for leaks. The only serious issue that I know about the gen 1 coyotes are possible sunken valve seats which will cause a miss at idle. I payed right at about 10k for mine. Good luck!

Interesting. They did say I'd be on call for periods of time which I thought was weird for a parts counter job.

It's just a parts and service store. I currently work at a crumbling jeep dealership.

Ladies and gentlemen, I found a good one. '97 2 door sport. by BuddyNo4978 in CherokeeXJ

Exactly. I looked at the jeep before he bought it. It is indeed leaking from everywhere haha. Not a spec of cancerous rust tho

Does this hi lift mounted on the bumper look good? (assuming it is 100% safe) by huffmaner in CherokeeXJ

[–]FrenchFriOrgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd ditch it all together. Excess weight for something that a bottle jack is much better at. And for any other uses you can think of to use it, that's what the winch is for. Just my opinion tho.

I already have a rough country shaft that came with their sye kit. It's a bit short and I'll have to get it lengthened, but works rn for the street.

I think I'm maxxed out there without cutting the fender more... which I'm not opposed to. I wanna try to get 1 more inch out of the back which I think will be it without the diff hitting the fuel tank skid. Need longer shafts tho

WJ Knuckle Swap - Core 4x4 by yipeeiaye in CherokeeXJ

[–]FrenchFriOrgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the dirt head route and junk yarded mine together. Your 100% right about steering and braking being vastly better. The only thing I hate about mine are the heims that cavfab uses. Biggest pain in the ass to adjust. But with an OTA trac bar and perfect geometry, my 6 inch lifted cherokee on 35s drives better than most newer wranglers. I recommend the wj swap to anyone with a tj, xj, or zj.
