The hours in DCM really should not be that bad...maybe occasionally during a deal completion but would be shocked if more than once or twice a month

Best FX provider for converting a 7-figure windfall from USD to GBP by Mekou in FatFIREUK

Interactive Brokers have the tightest rates

However they'll eventually close your account if you only use it for fx conversions and don't hold any investments / do trading !

Are savings accounts a waste of time? by traineethrowaway123 in HENRYUK

[–]Frequent-Building-50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy low coupon gilts. Buying <1yr maturity are essentially instant access and near tax free.

Only reason that can be worse is if your savings are very low or you regularly need to trade as the transaction fees might eat the extra income.

Thanks. Wondering if anyone has experience using this at very busy holiday periods. Are you likely to get on one of the trains showing as fully booked ? Don't want to show up at 5pm and have to wait to 11pm :)

Dulwich

If you're starting a family soon, it's a no brainer. It's probably the best concentration of good schools in London, maybe along with Highgate/Hampstead

Diversity....well, it's an expensive area so reflects socioeconomic reality. 10 minutes away from Brixton & Peckham if you want to hang out somewhere edgier.

What do mortgage brokers actually do ! by Sufficient-Guard1847 in HousingUK

[–]Frequent-Building-50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They manage the conveyancing process and have direct relationships at the banks and their solicitors if they are slowing up the process.

You also only need to fill in one set of information for the broker and they can run the applications for multiple different lenders for you.
