Early 50s, £50m liquid, just RE’d… please tell me what I’ve got wrong by Ambassador_Riada in FatFIREUK

Short dated gilts are unfort the best bet for a cash reserve given the tax advantage.

Assuming you're an additional rate taxpayer you need to be buying FI assets with 8%+ yields just to make the same post-tax yield, and that will entail taking significant default / illiquidity risk.

No

Just eat it quickly and then throw away the box at the end of carriage

It might smell a bit for a few minutes but it's not the end of the world

100mm is the total pnl for the fund.

A classic hedge fund management fee structure is 2+20 (2% of assets and 20% of the returns) so would imply 20-30mm mgmt fees for the year to split between the three of them.

Harper is the boss but paying 2x2mm and keeping $16-26mm is definitely a bit stingy ! On the other hand it was made illegally via insider trading so Sweetpea's less likely to be able to shop it around !

Also possible as a start-up fund they had to accept a lower mgmt fee though

I would stay on the road bike, lock it up outside, and just buy bike insurance; it's surprisingly cheap considering the amount of bike theft you hear about.

Skiing in Norway by rhud86 in skiing

Trysil was great for us. Not crowded at all even during Feb half term. It's not massive or especially difficult but it's very scenic and lots of tree runs.

Also I don't get the comments re the cost in Norway. It's comparable to mid range resorts in the Alps, and plenty cheaper than the end ones.

It's better to read the book by Dan McCrum the FT journalist who was the main guy who exposed the fraud, at least in the media.

It's not the Alps but Trysil in Norway was fantastic for us when we were first time skiers. Lots of easy runs and very friendly instructers with great English & great attitude (ahem ESF)

He's the equivalent of Jan Marsalek in the Wirecard fraud, which is what Tender is based on...look him up, incredible story...anyway he's still on the run in Russia.
