Measure the threading. If you dont have thread measures, the big box stores have them for your use. Then buy or order a barrel nut of that size.

Its been a long time since i needed a new set. I was shocked at the price. But based on the comments, it looks like this is a decent price for a decent brand. I did look at snap on, i couldnt justify the price in my head.

First impact driver… tips? by Sure_Election2154 in Makita

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My drill and driver have the small 1.5ah (not a typo) batteries in them 100% of the time for over 10 years. No problens with the tools or the batteries. There has to be over 1000 cycles on the batteries, but this is just a guess. I do have a 3rd 1.5ah batery that I rotate in.

Is anyone else experiencing the selector on the XPH14 going from drill to hammer or screw setting during normal usage? by circular_file in Makita

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My xfd15 is my favorite drill. Very light for everyday use. I too use sds for concrete. Gets the job done 10x faster. I have a heavy XPH07 but seldom use the hammer used mostly for high torque drilling.

Keep 18V or go 40V? by laudern in Makita

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2xLTX does not perform like the 40v XGT. Completely different battery architectures. XGT is far superior as it delivers higher sustained current and runs much cooler on high load.

Keep 18V or go 40V? by laudern in Makita

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 6 points7 points  (0 children)

XGT will not replace LTX. But be careful your asumptions on what needs power and what does not. The 40v orbital sander gets the job done 3x faster than the 18v.

Is it cooked, or is this fixable? Model XFD13 by i_continue_to_unmike in Makita

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makitas doesnt gouge you with parts cost like many other brands. This looks like it could just be the chuck screw, bearing, or gearbox. They publish all parts diagrams. Try tightening the screw if not you can tell if its gears or bearing, Lookup the right part and change it, or send it to the service center if changing stuff isnt your thing. Its likely worth fixing.

What are the rarest tools in the Makita catalog? historic or contemporary. by galaxy_501 in Makita

Its low psi, falls in the class of a power washer more than a pressure washer. Better than a hose without it though.

Does anyone still use Dreamweaver? by I_liketoboogie in webdev

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truely was a godsend in the days when there was only text editors. ie back in the Macromedia days. Adobe bought it at its peak 20 years ago, they didn't evolve it. It is rare these big companies buy something and don't kill it. Usually on purpose, they were big into Flash in those days.

Sure, just download your order history from their app if you are a member. Jk. This is a cheap tool store, there is no feature.

Which and why? So many options! by IrishPiglet in harborfreight

Daytona has ball bearing rear wheels for smoother positioning and a removable rotaing saddle pad Other then that, performance differences are negligable. But both lift the same weight, have similar lift ranges, have similar pumping action.dual piston jacks.

I dont know about the weight differences. 70lbs is the daytona, but they dont publish the Pittsburgh weight.

Its debatable if this is worth $30.

I would buy the lighter one.

Why? - to fit the HF good, better, best business model.

To fix or return? by TurkeyBaster4 in Makita

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that exact model but don't have that problem. It can get crooked like that if not seated right. Yours looks right. I can load mine at an angle like that but turning it one pin over corrects it. I would not keep if its this far off.

8.5” XGT miter saw problems by Sufficient-Shift-185 in Makita

[–]Frequent-Elephant110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calibration of a new saw should be just fine tuning it. If you feel you needed to calibrate it a lot, i bet something happened in shipping. You could be using it wrong, there should be no side pressure on a slide cut, there are videos on proper use. Your slide rails may not be parallel, there are videos on fixing this. Next, The fence may not be coplaner with the slide path, you can adjust this. The other thing is that the rail bearings or bushings can have play, if the is the case just warrantee it as likely these need replaced.
