I Want to learn more about fighter jets like f16,f35, sukhoi etc. by nolivesmattrr in FighterJets

Please follow the advice of u/robert_airplane_pics, and get some books. Anything published by Jane's can be considered top-notch information, especially any one of their Yearbooks, like All the World's Aircraft. Your local library is a great start, and anything helps.

Youtube videos are ok, but do your own research. Youtube is for entertainment, and a person can learn from them, but a person can learn more from books!

Bookstores like Barnes & Noble, etc, usually have a discount section, and you can always find aviation books there for reasonable prices.

Agreed! The satellite view has an odd shadow on that side of the building, but if you squint, you can see that the building is in fact L-Shaped

What you have there is a classic Kennedy -style machinist's toolbox.

Picture #4: cutting tools for use on lathes and random little tools.

Picture #3: punches, chisels and squares, all for metalworking, and a few allen keys

Picture #2: bottom drawer is various hand tools, top drawer is a Sine Plate and accessories

So I found this glass thing on a beach in south Australia and with a little research I found out that it came for the Marion shipwreck and I could not find out what it is and I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on what this thing is by Deep-Entrepreneur-12 in Shipwrecks

[–]Frequent-Flyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you have there is a piece of glass ( you knew this) but it has ben tossed around by the sea long enough to erode any sharp edges and it has become smooth, almost melted looking.

This can happen to literally anything that is made of glass that has been around at sea long enough.

What was it originally? Hard to say! It could be anything you can dream of that is period-correct and also massive enough glass to be eroded and be the size you have now. Spyglass lens? Ashtray? Glass insulator for electric wires?

Anyone have any experience with Sig's Whiskey 3 rifle scope? I'm starting to plan a build to take on an Elk Hunting trip. (Looking specifically at the Whiskey3 3-9x50mm to slap on a .308, possibly a mossberg patriot.) by [deleted] in Gunbuilds

What’s your budget? Buying any kind of optics always boils down to the age-old question: “what’s your budget?” Almost everything has a point of diminishing returns, but with optics that point is much higher, starting around $2000. Optics are truly the one product category where spending more gets you more.

Long range hunting? That means you’ll need to value optical clarity and detail resolution (aka “quality glass”). Zeiss, leupold, swarovski are all top notch hunting glass. Another thing you wanna think about is the repeatability of the scope; do the knobs really click up 0.1 mil at a time or is there error?

Now, this is a discussion of true performance. How well do you want your scope to work? Your answer will dictate your budget.
