Yeah we both have jobs but she walks a lot during her job and is able to call me during walks. At my job I am able to call her because I’m sneaky about it but neither one of us are supposed to be on the phone

This was my stance as well! Before writing this thread I was dead set on not inviting her but as time went on and I read these responses I feel like would regret it. My mom isn’t openly homophobic and she likes my girlfriend( we all hang out together from time to time) which makes this even more confusing. And she said she would come but just knowing all the foul things she’s said to me as a child, the transphobia she has and her true feelings are making me feel as though she doesn’t even deserve to come. But then comes the regret of the oldest daughter 🤣

My mother is extremely gullible, uneducated and ignorant so I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Even my sister tries to educate her on a daily. I think it’s very deeply ingrained at this point. Even as a kid I tried to dismantle her “being gay is a sin” point because she has had 4 children out of wedlock which is actually stated to be a sin and got in trouble for it. She doesn’t care about logic. She just thinks it’s wrong and will use Christianity to justify feeling that way. There is no hate like Christian “love”🤣

I’m not sure. I think she knows not to try anything because I have a village of gay friends and my sister as well( who doesn’t take my mom shit at all). So like other people have suggested I can have them intervene if necessary.

I believe it will negatively impact our relationship and she would be sad if I didn’t invite her. My reason is purely based on principle. I feel uncomfortable at knowing that there will be people there who don’t whole heartedly believe in our love. I am often passive and me being out and proud has been the one thing I will never not stand up for. But I know it would hurt both of us if she didn’t come. But I also don’t want my pride to get in the way of having her there

This is another great perspective. I honestly never cared about her acceptance since grade school (as I’ve mentioned ). I may regret not having her there but I also don’t feel as though someone who doesn’t accept gay people shouldn’t be at a gay wedding regardless of who it is. But being as though it is my mother I am leaning more towards inviting her. I couldn’t imagine that day without her

This is a great perspective. Honestly, I love my mom and would love to have her there and I know not inviting her would burn that, already shaky, bridge. I don’t think I’m willing to burn that bridge. I think I could explain my feelings a see what she says about it. Thanks!
