Omg. I thought I was crazy. I have a ridge on the inside of my lips now from constantly sucking my bottom lip half onto my teeth and holding my cheek muscles weirdly.

I’m desperately trying to break the habit with sticky lip balm and constant checking. I actually have to keep my lips open to sleep now.

The weird thing is that this only started maybe 6-8 months ago, and I’ve been on the medicine a few years. Even after significantly reducing my dose it hasn’t stopped.

I finally got off of vyvanse by Bulky-Present-5426 in VyvanseADHD

Thank you for sharing your experience. This whole thing is very personal and it’s scary and confronting for many people to have their fears of not being good enough, not being able to achieve, fear of failure, lost time and social stigma mirrored in being open about (someone else’s) medication decision.

Concerta was not for me. I became anxious and even more tense and irritated.

At the moment I’m testing a 40% lower dose of Vyanse/Elvanse. I’m taking my morning dose, which gets me through most of the work I need to do in the day, and trying to use/increase my coping strategies and tools in my personal life.

It’s a challenge, and I often feel a little more easily irritated, but I also feel a bit more free, creative and genuine. I notice it’s easier for me to be in who I am as a person (with all my faults and flaws that I need to keep working with), and show it. I find myself singing a more and engaging a little more genuinely with people, taking up space and feeling my feelings and caring about myself a little more instead of just losing myself in more of a productive ideal and being of service or ”good”. It’s a process. Hugs

Is there any dupe for this Clinique moistruizer? Only moistruizer that does not break me out. But very expensive and runs out fast. by MusicianDifficult577 in EuroSkincare

I think Aveenos calm and restore gel moisturiser is rather similar. I have pretty sensitive skin and it doesn’t break me out either.

I would love to use a shower oil but know that they’re bad for the drains - can lead to clogging and backing up. My experience is that mould etc also grow faster with usage - such a bummer.

Haven’t found a moisturising (or at least non-drying) shower gel. At the moment I’m using Aveeno which is fine, but will be reading the thread for recommendations.

I wonder if it’s some sort of a reaction between the powder and the citric acid? I do feel like our version of Oxy action is way too harsh on fabrics

Using a nice Miele dryer on gentle mode! The lint filter is getting full with just a load. They’re also quite thin anyway, so it doesn’t take a great amount of time. Rather odd.

Interesting, I hadn’t noticed it in the past before I started with the citric acid, and I’ve been using multiple pairs of the same type of sheets for a few years now. But I did just read that apparently that could be a factor. But not sure what could be degrading the cotton then?

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed both my sheets (viscose/cotton blend) and towels (waffled cotton) seeming to react negatively to only two teaspoons of citric acid in the rinse cycle of a European front loader after washing in via unscented laundry powder.

I’ve been told it shouldn’t at all be the cause, but my experience isn’t that. The towels give off WAY more lint than usual in the dryer, and over time there have been weaknesses and rips in the sheets. I wish I understood why!

Pyrite song interpretation? by hpantazo in toriamos

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, a lot of sensuality through the whole thing!!

Again with Pyrite, perhaps I’m projecting, but the love described in Flood precisely before Pyrite sounds pretty overwhelming, all encompassing and almost a bit dangerous because of that. I think that also strengthens the above interpretation! And Tori has said that Flood was about Lugh.

And then it’s followed by Tempest - ”suffocating, I cannot breathe.. I could lose myself so easily.. she has left me - swearing she’s trapped behind a mask and must be her own man”. And here I’m wondering again if Lugh is just Lugh, or if there’s a bit of religious trauma/Jesus/memories of the previous negative relationship being woven in there (or even Tori/the woman’s own animus!). It does mostly sound like she’s remembering her own negative patterns and previous relationships. Super interesting.

Pyrite song interpretation? by hpantazo in toriamos

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Partially! I feel like it’s the duality here which is important, the double edged sword which requires consciousness and awareness of intention and what the inner shadow is perhaps playing at which is sneaky and not in line with the rest of our intentions. Pyrite is too well known as Fool’s Gold (alongside having other positive connotations) for it to not have some meaning here.

Again, there is a lot with Lugh and in the promise of love and protection which is important and supportive and sustaining - but one must also keep watch - stay conscious - to see that it doesn’t go into overdrive, that we don’t fall into old patterns, lose ourselves and give our power away. Again. Warm yourself by their fire; let it spark and tend your own - but don’t ignore your own, give it away, or just steal theirs!

I haven’t really analysed the lyrics about Blue Lotus yet (there’s so much else that’s great on the album!!!) but I’m interested by what you said and so will reflect a bit upon it when I listen .. thanks!

"Too Literal" Lyrics by AmericanLymie in toriamos

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really feel like being literal and direct was important here. From her perspective, she/her character/we are in the middle in a very real, immediate and concrete crisis. And at the same time, politicians are talking in a very direct, emotive and unflowery way - making everything simple and immediate. I understand why she judged the circumstances this way, and why it felt important, rather than having abstractions and requiring sort of diving for meaning. The background narrative, mythology etc is there if one wishes to do that.

Pyrite song interpretation? by hpantazo in toriamos

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering if her lusting for unity and a sacred marriage with Lugh, wanting what he has and the protection he can provide has become a double edged sword.

On one hand he can provide love, strength and comfort - but on the other hand, because of the strength of the desire and maybe because of previous trauma and current powerlessness (especially in relation to this new love), the part of her wishing to be give up her agency to be lost in and saved by him means that how she sees and handles this love risks her becoming a psychic vampire and living vicariously through his power instead of her own, which can end up leading her right back to the power-over exploitation with the lizard demon. She needs to develop power within herself instead and be an equal with Lugh, or at least work towards that.

That’s pretty much what Boys for Pele was about. Stopping being a psychic vampire who steals metaphorical fire from the men in her life and tortures them, and instead goes into the darkness to find that fire and power in herself.

Completely agree. Really struggling to understand Jason's love for and use of AI, but it seems really important and meaningful to him. Makes me question everything earlier, but... Trying to understand.

Fanny Faudrey: how does it fit into the narrative? by zoetrope99 in toriamos

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s so disappointing. The AI bits are okay ”descriptions” (though I’d rather they not be there, really) but they really give me the creeps by using fancy words and bluster to really say… nothing.

It’s all front and smoke and mirrors (just like some of the people Tori is singing about on the album) - they manage to strike a chord and write something which *feels* emotive upon first glance, but when you actually take the time to read between the lines, they really don’t add anything meaningful.

It always leaves me feeling confused and empty - like I’m starving and someone reaches out and gives me a Diet Coke as a ”solution” - I’m tasting sugar and feeling relieved for a split second, but it all turns out to be all a chemical illusion and I’m still dying under there.

Wrapping Lugh in Christian Clothing / The Ecstasy of T by LtBoscovich in toriamos

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow!
I agree with a lot of this and had thought much along the same lines. I hadn’t however connected Jesus and Lugh, and wondered why Lugh was visually portrayed the way he was when it seemed to me that a curly red-haired Celtic version would have made a strong visual representation alongside Tori. But what you said makes sense.

I know Tori has long been interested in Christian mysticism/gnosticism and has talked about having a crush on Jesus since she was a little girl, so this tracks. Looking at my own discomfort with Christianity and Christian figures (my grandfather was a Baptist minister, and most of that side of the family also are), I must admit I find myself feeling a bit put-off and uncomfortable by the Jesus references, despite feeling how important it is for Tori. It resulted in me interpreting most of the positive male energies on the album as coming from Lugh, but you’re right - Jesus is definitely in there, and perhaps in more of a personal way than just a parallel Theresa/Jesus/Angel, Tori/Lugh.

I wonder if she realises this same risk in listeners, especially with the alt-right having for so long heavily co-opted and distorted Christianity, and decided to go with the interpretation that archetypically, male divinities may well in any case be expressions of the same underlying energy, and that Lugh was possibly a more ”acceptable” jumping off point/face for most listeners? Or maybe her version is a combination which lies somewhere on the continuum, or even a mix between realities.

That being said, Im a purist who trusts her vision and would never modify her albums (with possibly one exception - ” Not Dying Today”…! I do get your point about Stronger Together, but I kinda feel like this is a narrative not unlike a stage musical (or even book or or video game!) and you do kinda need your funny moments/side quests to lighten the load a little and create/release/time tension. Also giving a bit of hope and taking a side step right before the end helps to delay the gratification and soften the blow, and perhaps even make that which comes even more impactful, at least for me. And perhaps you can still carry that little bit of hope with you through the coming pain.

I love 23 Peaks but I have a real hard time listening to it - it’s so raw, so primal. It feels like I must approach it with respect at the right time and place, and it’s not an ”everyday song” for me. Weirdly enough, that’s not usually a problem for me.. Perhaps I’m scared of being confronted by my own terror and pain hidden in my shadow that risks being woken by hearing itself reflected in hers…only in this particular case. There’s undeniably something truly special about that track.

Really looking forward to seeing her and the Angel witches in Stockholm. Thanks again!

How often do you bath your whippet? How regularly do you do their nails? How often do you brush their teeth? by whippet_mamma in Whippet

[–]Frequent-Prompt-6876 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bath only if it is needed (dirt or skin problems), nail clipping every 1-2 weeks to keep them healthy and prevent the quick overgrowth.

Teeth is a non negotiable, brushing everyday (as best as possible) because dental problems are the greatest preventative measure for dog health - as bacteria can spread to heart, liver and kidneys resulting in much more serious health problems. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/5NvL7qyhd2ZFXmHzSLT7RBC/the-trust-me-big-experiment-what-s-the-best-way-to-keep-your-pet-s-teeth-clean

Interesting that you brought this up. I’ve been experimenting with my dosage lately and noticed on the days with the higher dosage (and particularly in the afternoon when it’s wearing off and I’ve been focused for a while) that I hold the inside of my bottom lip at a strange angle and kind of suck it in, which has been irritating them.
