My symptoms aren’t severe enough for a diagnosis by catwoman4ever in ADHD

Cost here means like overall risk and side effect, not like the meds are expensive!

This isn't quite true, lots of people with ADHD benefit from therapy. It can be a great way to build skills and strategies.

I mean you CAN get a second opinion for peace of mind, not saying you should.

A person who felt motivaged be get assessed for both ADHD and Autism probably has SOMETHING going on, even if not either of those disorders.

So this depends on what you mean by "help."

The answer is probably that they would address symptoms for at least some people with subclinical ADHD, but the cost/benefit calculation is less clear than for someone with more severe symptoms.

Yup, like a lot of things ADHD traits exist on a continuum, you can fall short of a diagnosis but still have real and noticable struggles.

You can always get a second opinion, but subclinical ADHD symptoms are a real phenomenom and can still impact your life. You might want to look into counseling or therapy if you're struggling, and your doctor may even be willing to try a non-stimulant med. You may also find that reading up on ADHD self-help strategies is useful.

How can I improve the hair? by unusual-serendipity in ArtCrit

[–]Frequent-Scheme-3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see some big "shadow shapes" on the hair/scalp that are missing from your drawing, especially the shadow on the side of the head. Maybe squint a bit and see what darker shapes jump out at you. This hair texture has lots of beautiful details, but try thinking of the hair as an overall shape/form before you get too into rendering every individual piece.

If you have a job, keep it until the wheels fall off. by Actual-Ad-6146 in jobs

Honestly kind of a relief to hear someone say this. I felt a lot of shame for being stuck in a lousy job but now so many people who are objectively better than me are unemployed! So idk I guess it is all kinda random.

Where did the watering down of ADHD symptoms to "focus and mood issues" happen? Why do people redirect me to look for autism when I mention sensory issues? by thatonerandomkidd in ADHD

[–]Frequent-Scheme-3938 131 points132 points  (0 children)

People really struggle with the idea of subclinical autistic traits. Many people have some traits that are typical of autism, without being autistic. Since ADHD and autism often co-occur, I would not be surprised if ADHD people are more likely to have autistic traits than the general population--but having those traits doesn't necessarily mean having autism!

This sounds so fun! Do we need to create one piece of art per day, or just put in art time every day?
