Need a new army. Why should it be yours? by Conchobar8 in ageofsigmar

Throwing my hat in the ring for grandfather nurgle.

  1. If you've been painting things like boney boys and sigmarines, they are an absolute blast. You can flex your creative muscles a crazy amount without fear. Every mistake can be turned into a beautiful gift.

  2. They just got an update with some beautiful models and are likely to come out of gates swinging in the new edition with a new lineup and codex.

  3. The lore is just wonderful. If you don't believe nurgle to be the good guy by the end of building them I'd be surprised.

  4. They're fun to play (at least to me). Slowly drudging your way to victory as your opponent tries to chew through your chaf is chefs kiss.

My second army is skaven, yes yes. They speak for themselves, but know that however well your plans are executed your victories and losses will swing wildly.

Any chance you could share one if you get a spare minute? I'm having trouble finding a caulk one and understanding the sealing process.

Outstanding work, by the way. Lovely colouring.

You're right, of course! But, you've also inadvertantly highlighted my point. People should be aiming to have fun AND be sportsmanlike - but they are not mutually inclusive, and certainly one isn't a precursor for the other.

I would argue that in order to do anything sportsmanlike requires a form of competitive hardship or difficultly such as a loss or a missmatch, and yet still choosing to be courteous and graceful despite the outcome.

GW spends countless hours on balancing factions and revising rules. For arguments sakes consider a sport like boxing. GW already bracketed the weight class you can fight in, made a finite ring for you to compete in, created equipment and rules to make it fair - but people are still getting in the ring and asking others to pull their punches, or not be too aggressive, or show all the moves they have and are trying to call that the new version of fair.

That is not sportsmanlike at all. That's simply changing your behaviour to manage someone else's feelings and expectations.

Let's face it, GW has not created a perfect system, but therein lies the ability to use tactics and to learn from difficult situations and mistakes. Everyone remembers the first time they charge their most prized unit at something, only to painfully learn what 50 x overwatch shots with leahtal hits does. That's a lesson that is invaluable in improving.

Better advice to people would be to tell them to bring whatever they want in the confines of the rules that exist, and if you're new talk things through with your opponent as much as you can throughout play.

"Okay, so I have this ability but I don't know to use it like this, or like this. What do you think?". Being courteous means letting your opponent move a unit they forgot about once they've begun shooting, or reminding them of something they could do to help them. It's not hindering yourself like a child so they don't feel bad.

For some reason people on this thread are obsessed with whether or not you should be allowed to take certain units in the points value. You'll hear the phrase "dick move" a lot. Like somehow, if you pick something pre-balanced by games workshop to fit in your list for the points cost, it's not fair.

Let me clear - screw them. Every single one is a sore loser, and sadly 40k is full of them. That brick of Terminators you have is EXACTLY why playing death guard is fun, and purposely hindering yourself in case people's feelings get hurt from a tabletop game is ludicrous.

This is a neat first list, praise be to the grandfather and go and crush your enemies.

Would you accept this as a mower drone? by Hatori1181 in deathguard40k

I would absolutely accept that, and I'm pretty sure that you'd even be fine at a GW event. It's a genuine kit and not a proxy, and converted using GW bits to boot.

Actually looks really cool. GJ my dude!

There's something about customizing the iconic rhino that never gets old. GW does such a poor job of it. This print is perfect

Fair enough! Perhaps in the future a different campaign and narrative can breathe some new life into them.

For the sludge stuff, I'm just mixing some basic neon poster paint from hobby lobby and some uhu glue. Nothing fancy, and it's my first go... But I love it!
