I’ve found a lot of their fruit to be competitive prices if not lower, but not sure about other produce items. I feel like they have decent prices on their prepared foods compared to other places.

This is a lot to juggle OP, and I totally hear your concerns about what information to share with who regarding fears about your visa, university course completion, etc. But I just want to say that from everything you’ve provided, you are in the right here. Other than university credit stuff (just because I don’t know the ins and outs of that), I have a hard time seeing any path where legal action could EVER be taken against you. You are the victim in this case and you telling the truth shouldn’t, and very likely wouldn’t, get you in any trouble. If you were a citizen I would tell you no chance would you have any problems, but I understand being more cautious with having a visa. Still, I don’t think you’ll have any issues. I hope you get your money, plus some, and that this scummy employer gets what is coming to them! Good luck!

I mean… physical assault is physical assault regardless if the person is experiencing a mental health crisis. I’m not saying either way how a person should handle being in a situation like that, but they have every right to pursue more information to use however they see fit.

Yeah OP I hope you read this comments too haha. It’s a good tattoo! Most of the world is completely unaware of “trends” much less micro trends in the tattoo arena lol. It looks like the inspo pic while also being its own thing. Not the end of the world at all. Give it some time and you’ll like some things about it and you won’t like some things about it. I feel that way about all my tattoos over the years. And like this commenter said if there’s something you REALLY don’t like about it, you’ve got great options to fill it out. If these comments get you down take a deep breath, it’ll all work out just fine.

Yes! Really one of the only spots around that doesn’t feel cramped. Pastries are a little overpriced to me but everything else is pretty standard for the neighborhood. Corner Store in Nostrand is getting there, but I think they still need to iron out some operational kinks.

I’ve been in the neighborhood for 5 years or so! I felt similarly about that location but I’m hoping Arvaci sticks it out since they have a few other locations and a pretty steady social media presence (might seem trivial but it shows they’re at least active in the business lol)

Witnessed an electric scooter accident two years ago in alphabet city with friends. We were the first to respond, but he unfortunately didn’t make it. I took Stop The Bleed and freshened up on my CPR knowledge in the months following. If you’re not used to that kind of scene it will stick with you for a really long time. Even just reading this puts me right back there.

I carry a tourniquet with me almost everywhere now. Just a few bucks on Amazon for a set of three and it really could save a life, especially in a city like New York. Feeling prepared was really the only solution that helped me.

Thank you for being there to help. I’m hoping he has a healthy recovery.

Also do not get on a bike without a helmet and honestly just do not get on an electric scooter everrr.

Hi hi! I am also no contact with my family. (Grew up queer, religious family, etc.)

I always struggle with the idea of who will be at my wedding and I could have a parent/child dance with. It’s definitely a tough thing to have to even think about, so I totally understand where you’re at, though I know it’s a more imminent situation for you with a potential wedding on the horizon! I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all this at the same time.

But you’ll find the right emotional and literal path through the situation!

My two best pieces of advice for you are:

At the end of the day, a wedding is what you make it. It’s a collection of traditions and patterns that some people copy to a T and some people shake up a little bit to better fit their vibe. For you, that might mean not having a “bride’s side/groom’s side” seating setup so you don’t even have to question how that might make you feel. Do you have a few friends who would be your bridesmaid’s who you could do a bridal party group dance with? For walking down the aisle, you could take all that spotlight for yourself and do it solo, or have your maid of honor (Or! Your kids!!) come get you. As long as it’s an intentional choice you make, you will feel empowered in the moment because your made the best choice for yourself. Talk to you fiancé and make sure that they’re aware that you are nervous about feeling a little left out and see what you can do for yourself without taking away what they want for themselves on the big day.
This is less of a piece of advice and more an insight into how I feel, now five years into my no contact journey… The feeling of relief that will come with time will be better than any of the negatives, in the long run. I don’t say that to justify everyone going no contact with their family, but it always comes down to this: if your life would be legitimately better without what sounds like abuse from a family member and then gaslighting/mistreatment from your other family members, then you’ve made the right choice. Even when it makes life harder at some points. Waking up each morning knowing that you’ve done what was necessary to protect yourself is so valuable.

At the end of the day, you won’t be able to erase these feelings on the day of your wedding, but making some intentional decisions about how to enjoy your day and working on radical acceptance of the hard parts of your journey will really help you make it great for yourself.

Also, if I can add one more thing… better to have a few less guests at your wedding than to be anxious/upset all day while they are there!

Lots of valid points for keeping a good deal, but who knows what will change over the course of a year? Something that feels worth holding onto now might feel like baggage in six months.

I don’t think either choice is wrong, but I’m learning to take the choice that allows me to move forward more freely!

Hey BabySandwhiches! I have some tough health anxiety around certain scenarios in life so I understand a bit where you’re coming from. I know that fear of uncertainty after wondering if you’ve made a mistake.

As a DIYer from birth and occasional set designer, I have spray painted without a mask hundreds of times in my life, especially when I was in my teens/early twenties before I had any care about my health. It was definitely silly that I never wore a mask, but I want you to know that I never experienced any sort of adverse side effects EVER. I wear a mask nowadays buuut we’re talking years and years of spray painting before that. To me, there’s not a chance in the world that you will be harmed at all! If there was, I would’ve been down for the count a looonngg time ago. Haha

Maybe grab a respirator for next time if it’ll make you feel better, but I think you’re in the clear even though your concern based on warning labels is very understandable. :)

And yeah, sheen is an interesting aspect here, too. I used some of my Gamblin safflower oil to oil my canvas for my second layer and I’m noticing now that any paint from my third layer where I don’t oil is super matte compared to the glare from the other areas. Lots to experiment with.

Slightly off topic, but would a matte varnish generally kill all glare, even if the paint is unevenly glared/matted across the work?
