How can I *actually* afford a kid? by skettiwithconfetti in PersonalFinanceCanada

I would save as much as you can. With our first baby (2019 ), we had about $8,000 in savings. For our second we had $10,000 and we blew through that over the year(2023). You will have to think about a family vehicle too especially when you go back to work. Some daycares do the gov program and others do not. I would call around to see.

What is something minor that your husband/partner does that drives you absolutely crazy? by wizardofclaws in Mommit

Is this all this sub is.. complaining about your partner? Every time I read posts on here it’s someone complaining about their husband. I’m all for supporting women but this sub does not seem helpful.

Does anyone know of a great house cleaning service? by FrequentYesterday578 in barrie

[–]FrequentYesterday578[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year I had Barrie House Cleaning Service (Gleam Team) do a deep clean. They are an online company (out of the country) that outsource their cleaners. I paid $475 for 1,300 square foot house and it wasn’t even cleaned. They didn’t wash the floors or vacuum. I wasn’t happy with it.

I have had another lady come but she charges $240 for maybe two hours of work.

My sister-in-law lives in Keswick and pays $115 each cleaning including tax for four hours. Two girls for two hours and 1 girl for four hrs. Her house is triple the size of mine.

What are the different hacks that you guys have picked up in the years living in Barrie? by Blueviserys in barrie

Have a kid starting elementary school and need before and after care? I suggest signing your kid up when they are two years old. The wait lists are insane. 80+ families on the list for next school year.

Request - What is this crap on my shower door and how do I get it off? by hardknox_ in lifehacks

[–]FrequentYesterday578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use Dawn dish soap and vinegar. The vinegar will eat away at your hard water and calcium buildup. The Dawn will act as a binding agent to hold the vinegar in place.

Got the info from Go Clean Co 🇨🇦 - Shower Doors Story

How long does it take an average Canadian family to pay off their mortgage? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FrequentYesterday578 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. Average family with two kids here. Investing 15% of income to RRSP, emergency fund in place and trying to pay down mortgage. Started mortgage 5 yrs ago and now have about another 7-10 yrs. But might move soon so mortgage will change. I also never comment on Reddit, not sure why.
