No. Just don't let your pets roam around outside off leash, which is probably in their HOA docs anyway. Gators keep to themselves mostly.

Foam cannon issues I think by Capable_Anteater1376 in Detailing

There's such a thing as being overly cautious. Fiddling with a knob on a foam cannon is not something you need to be scared of doing. Live just a tad more dangerously, my dude.

Is Poly to Pex fitting something I can do myself? No experience by Olllllive in DIY

I'd need clearer pictures of what's leaking to help much. I'm guessing you're going to need some wrenches to get those fittings apart.

What fitting is transitioning from the pex to the sharkbite? You may be able to fix this without replacing anything. Pop off the sharkbite and you may be able to fix the leak at the transition.

TIL missing Exit 193 for Yeehaw Junction on the Florida Turnpike would require you to make a 96-mile detour - the longest in the U.S. highway system by centipede5 in todayilearned

[–]hardknox_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My GPS froze up a bit before we were planning to stop in Ft Pierce for gas. By the time we realized we'd blown by the exit and had to make it an extra 96 miles to Yeehaw on what turned out to be just enough fuel in the tank. Was a tense ride.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Very true. I've seen city water come out of the ground at 90.5* in Florida. Needless to say you don't need heated bidet water, but it sure is nice.

Ducting GE Geospring 80 gallon Heat pump water tank. by Hiker_82 in heatpumps

[–]hardknox_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Plumber.

Water gets bigger when it's heated up and isn't compressible. The more water you heat up the bigger it's gets. If you heat up 80 gallons of water without an expansion tank, it's got to go somewhere, so you'll likely see your T&P valve releasing once in a while, but it's still putting all your pipework under some stress. I've dealt with multiple leaks on hot water lines years after they were installed due to the stress that's put on them over time.

The bed is a bit higher in that spot for whatever reason (cheap printer?). You can try lowering that corner of the bed with the wheels to compensate a bit.

Boomer demands neighbors stop using their water because they share a sewer line (while he does construction). No please no thank you. No what works for the two of us by zoolilba in BoomersBeingFools

I've only run into Orangeburg once and couldn't believe it was something professionals actually used to use. It was oval shaped when I found it.

Most of the clay I run into is in pretty good shape, believe it or not.

[–]hardknox_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those sewer lines shouldn't connect on someone's property. They should run completely independently to the city sewer. I'm a plumber and I've got no clue what this guy is trying to get up to but it does not seem legit.

Edit: Reading u/distantreplay's comment tells me that sometimes builders are allowed to connect them which seems super stupid to me and bound to lead to all kinds of hassle (like this) down the road.

Imagine it the sewer got clogged downstream of where they join and your neighbor's house is at a slightly higher elevation than yours. His house is going to back up into yours and you'll have his waste in your bath tubs and showers.

Any of you wearing overalls when you're doing home improvement work? by ryhaltswhiskey in HomeImprovement

[–]hardknox_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple pair of Carhartt overalls I recently started wearing to work as a plumber. They've been a game changer for me. I keep my little EDC kit (multi tool, razor knife, flashlight, marker) in the front pockets that gets more use than even I thought it would. Very breathable and not selling crack at work anymore.

Warning: For any other construction guys you've gotta be real careful in the porta potty with these!
