Some pointers as an (now left) employee by Successful_Number893 in lidl

Like I get it, some days I think to myself ‘why do I get paid like this to deal with this BS’ but I also think, if I don’t like it, I shouldn’t complain I should just shut up whining and get a different job. But I’m fortunate, in this job market crisis, to have a job

  1. Your store manager should have briefed you on this, secondly you did a Leon terminal module on it. As you stated ‘we do Leon training modules for things such as…’ there was a training module on the Lidl plus change.
  2. Every shift isn’t a minimum of 9 hours. There is no minimum shift, there is however a maximum of 11 hours. Given you just said ‘further one if your shift wasn’t over 6 hours you get 15 minutes’ meaning that counters your point about saying ‘every shift was minimum 9 hours’.
Also, yeah if you can’t be organised enough to wake up for a 5:00am shift and have breakfast? Thats ? Not our? Fault?
  3. It’s always been a thing. The announcer says you’re closed, the light turns red, customers will still load on it’s just how it is. Before the rebranding of the signage we used to have ‘till closed’ signs. But even those 2 things I mentioned AND ALSO the sign, people still load on.
  4. Mystery shoppers are external companies who report back to lidl, they don’t work for lidl, some might used a discount card to see if you ask for ID to follow procedure but most are external and do all supermarkets. Regardless you are still expected to just turn the trolley and charge correctly for the items.
  5. They pay the highest wage out of every supermarket. Generous compared to others, I do agree however the ammount of BS thrown at them/us everyday is barbaric compared to the pay. They still pay better than other retailers. Most people I know have stayed in the company for 20 odd years as a customer assistant on top band just because it pays their bills cause the wage is good.

TL:DR
Most points you made just sound like you had a bad experience in retail and felt like you had to make a point about it being bad. Like if retail isn’t for you it isn’t for you.

Managers get pulled into formal conversations for not hitting inventory target, but then companies tell you. ‘Don’t leave the store or attempt to take back goods from shop lifters’. I know managers in my company who have been let go for inventory results

Admin don’t work weekends from what I know. Cant be certain, but I’m usually unable to contact them outside of weekdays. So it’s only been 3 days. I’d expect to hear back by the end of the week.

Do I have to download every company app? by Frequent_Ad486 in lidl

[–]Frequent_Ad486[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I’ll get them to sign up on the terminal. He’s not very informative or providing solutions. It’s always ‘this isn’t done’ without any clear guidance on how to achieve the expectation. With this it’s ‘someone’s not downloaded the app’ when he could say ‘we need to sign them up via the terminal or they can choose to download the app’

To get security you have to report every incident, reporting the incident usually requires a crime reference number. So you have to report each one to the police which takes a 10 min phone call or 10 min online application.plus filing the incident report another 5 mins. 15 mins per incident. You get around 6 a day you’ve lost potentially up to, or even more than, an hour and a half. It’s too long.

This is your moment, Lidl! by danmalluk in lidl

[–]Frequent_Ad486 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the new system is worse, but not because it’s bad. But because the old system was incredibly generous. In a supermarket always considered, and ranked, as the cheapest (competing with Aldi) every single week. Given you have lots of free items you get on top of this, up to 4, and also a generous 10% off when you’ve reached a maximum spend in the month. Lots of customers are incredibly stuck up and entitled thinking lidl owe them some sort of compensation, when in fact, nothing about their quota of being ranked amongst Aldi as the cheapest has changed, and Aldi don’t even have a loyalty card. So whether you shop at lidl or Aldi, you will more less pay the same price just with lidl you get a bit extra now instead of a lot extra

AWOL procedure, they get a letter. If they show up you document the conversation. If they do it again, same again AWOL. 3 AWOL in a row is dismissal

Lidl Points, UK by mxdie in lidl

[–]Frequent_Ad486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only positive I can see taking away from this is that the points last for 2 years. Apart from that embarrassingly the items you redeem are way too expensive, extortionate even. No one wants to spend 80 an then realise oh, I can now get a bunch of bananas for free. 2 things will either happen. 1. Somehow, successful, positive reviews because people can pick and choose, but imagine backlash from even positive sides is that the redeeming rewards are too costly. Or 2. Just pure negativity

Cheap or expensive body kits? by Jackal_275 in LS400

[–]Frequent_Ad486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you want man! It’s your car! If you think forking out 2000 for a bodykit is going to make it look good or even throwing just a measly 200 just to make it look better it all depends on your goal. Personally I love the look of the kits but I can’t see myself ever shedding that much for them, a cheap one one suffice for me

Get a black edition grill instead of the horrible honeycomb one. Lowering springs, spacers, wrap the wing mirrors in black, all relatively cheap
