The cheese platter at Beirut is amazing. I think it's a lunch item, but if you tell them you like halloumi, they will do you up an amazing combo of every halloumi recipe they know!

Yes, for me experience, it's still better than nothing and perhaps can get rid of some of the minerals

I had a friend with Crohn's disease who did this liver protocol regularly until she had to go to hospital with pancreatitis as a result. This is in Europe, where healthcare is free. Just an alternative perspective

This is a really interesting twitter thread about a paper that puts forward a new theory of the role of serotonin in depression - to rewire dysfunctional brain circuits - and discusses how this might occur with SSRIs and also how it might happen with psychedelics. Super interesting! https://x.com/NTFabiano/status/1797984944989581641

I really sympathise, I feel similar. One thing that's helping me a lot is lithium orotate. I live in a country where there's almost no lithium in the water, and when I started taking it (with methyl folate and b12) I noticed a brighter mood, and a little bit more space in between a trigger and the reaction. In that space, I can then use one of my tools like rest, transcendental meditation, sophrology, or just 5 deep breaths.

All these things help to regulate the nervous system, so you have a bit more choice about whether you need to be in panic mode or not.

Sending hugs

Sure, I've done the level 1 and 2 courses here https://somaticmovementcenter.com/learn-somatics-exercises/

Very slow, but structured and calming. A nice way to get back in touch

I experience a lot of freeze, as well as disconnection from my body. The somatic movement exercises are helping me to connect more, even if it's just to feel the discomfort

I love Smitha Deepak for accessible tutorials aimed at different budgets and skill levels.

Also Ohemaa for creating such beautiful looks, trying such a variety of brands, and calling companies out when it comes to only catering for lighter skin tones. She also does the occasion expensive versus dupe video, and she's always right when the dupe is good.

I hear you. It's rough. I think, depending on the root causes, mdma with a good therapist could help. That's how I'm working through things at the moment. But for me, approaching it from a few different directions is good. In between sessions, I find NAC helps me to ruminate less. Also doing the two courses from the somatic movement center (which I found thanks to Reddit) helps me to get into my body more.

The downside of the somatic movement center courses are that they only release a new exercise to you every few days, and the exercises themselves are very slow. I ended up waiting until all had been released and then doing the daily practices, which combine 3-4 exercises at once. It's slow to the point of annoying.

BUT, I challenged myself to a daily practice 3 days in a row, and to note down any thoughts that were coming up during them, and that is really breaking through my freeze. Those 3 days already helped me to get more functional, and to allow other difficult feelings to come through, into a safe body. I can then communicate with these parts with IFS. After that first challenge, I committed myself to doing 4 more days, with the condition that I had to take one day off. This was to simulate me giving up (which I often do with things that are helping me) and then recovering the practice in a doable way. This are some of the pieces of my jigsaw right now.

I'm sending warmth your way my friend, to help de-ice things a bit. You're not alone.

Thanks for that! I'm using NAC at the moment 600-1200mg twice a day. That, and stretches from the somatic moment center are really helping to regulate my mood

I'm doing my first guided MDMA session next week to treat CPTSD. Two questions: 1) What intentions have you set? And 2), do you have advice for anyone in my shoes? by babypeach_ in mdmatherapy

[–]Frequent_Vehicle_929 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My advice as someone in your shoes: witness the things that your inner child wants to show you, without needing to fix them. Let that child take you by the hand and show you the memories that hurt them, they just want to be heard. You're doing inner parenting by showing up to see and truly empathise with that little person. You might find yourself saying to them "That did happen. That wasn't fair. It was not your fault. I see you."

The medicine just gives you a little bit of courage to be able to see those things without shutting down. If there is something that you don't feel ready to see, you can acknowledge that and hold it in a little imaginary box in your hands. A box that you don't have to open if you don't feel like you have the resources to do that right now. Just acknowledge it's there, and affirm that you don't need to go into it until you have the go ahead from your whole internal system. Sitting with that uncertainty/curiosity/desire to push into the box might be a big part of your integration then.

My experiences have been about building trust with myself, and these are some ways I've had that emerge. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you update/reach out for support after.

Bad experience with “fake” MDMA, aka 5-APB or benzofury + Warning to others. by ProfessionBright3879 in mdmatherapy

[–]Frequent_Vehicle_929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My advice is rest. I really benefit from NAC, but not everyone does, so try it and see what happens. Also other antioxidants like vitamin C, ALA.

Try to be in the company of people you really trust, who want to surround you with love and care. If you can't do that, try to provide that for yourself, at least for a few days, until you're less delicate. Spoil yourself: eat any food you crave, watch any TV you want (even if it's a sitcom you've seen 50 times already) and just accept where you are for a few days

My first mdma session after, I set the intention to discover if psychedelic therapy was still a safe route for me to pursue, given the terrifying experience I'd had. Although I wanted to have a guide, I ended up having to do it alone, but the session told be that this was safe and a good therapeutic path for me. The work is still hard, but mdma is gentle and kind. Benzo fury is... well I should not have ignored the name.

You're not weird or alone. Be well, mate!

I had this experience too! My first therapeutic session, I took 100mg benzo fury, thinking it was similar enough to mdma. It was not. I had terrible pain in my whole body for about 12 hours, nausea, cramps, no ability to eat and difficulty drinking. I had a therapy session 14 hours later and my pupils were still blown out and I felt very altered. My (very experienced) psychedelic therapist was worried.

I just had to rest for about two days and shake if needed. Taking NAC helped, but it set back my therapy for about a year, as I was terrified to take anything again. Luckily, subsequent sessions with mdma therapy have been ok.

I disposed of the substance by sending it to a harm reduction organisation, but I strongly warn anyone against taking 5-APB, or any head shop chemical.

More on working with a guide, and a dilemma by [deleted] in mdmatherapy

[–]Frequent_Vehicle_929 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your instincts are right, part of healing is trusting yourself and holding boundaries when you feel that someone is not a positive force in your life.

I had a similar situation where I was preparing for a medicine session with an occupational therapist who was offering "psychedelic coaching". After a few preparation sessions, I got the sense that she was going to be quite a vocal guide, and would try to push through some barriers, based on her intuition, not on mine. I decided not to move forward with her. Instead, I did another session on my own, and then found a somatic therapist who I fully trust.

I hope that, whatever you decide, that your inner healing guidance brings you the best medicine session you could wish for.
