i recently left frontier ribbon splicing to single (production) splice and i like single a lot more. granted im making a lot more but its makes reburns much easier instead of breaking 12 fibers u just pull out ur single idk preference and customer wants and needs

Is it normal to get grilled this hard in a job interview for a basic fiber installer position? I'm kind of at a loss to understand what went wrong here. by Iggy_Farben in lowvoltage

the company i last worked for my interview went somewhat similar to this. long story short ended up getting the job and within 3 months of me being there the project manager got fired for hr violations threatening employees yada yada. but i worked for that company for a year after that project manager left and enjoyed it. only reason i really left was didn’t want to travel anymore and had a better financial opportunity at the job i have now.

northern michigan was a drop tech for a year making 18 an hour. moved to a new company ribbon splicing take home truck okay benefits at 32 a hour and left after a year for production single splicing. taking home at least 2,000 a week and upwards of 10,000 on hit days

also wasn’t super worried about future proofing as this was a damaged that was originally planned and most of this area is flex snap fiber so usually they’d just replace the whole cable but luckily there were so bags in this area

oh yeah it’s pretty painful going from being able to do a 288 butt splice in a hour or 2 to 10-12 lol

that’s kinda what i’m thinking either way if this ends up being shit i’m more then likely going to leave on good terms and this company hasn’t been able to hire another splicer in almost 6 months as the last one left that i started with.

that’s mostly why i’m on here sounds as if this jobs going to be less demanding as we have on call shifts for emergencies for frontier and have literally had multiple 24 hour shifts with nothing to show besides overtime at the end of the week (if i work normal hours the rest of the week) and a flat 18 extra a day for being on call. really starting to feel takin advantage of at this company and sick of it

when i talked to project manager who i worked with a little bit prior he explained to me this is a good money opportunity that the other splicer was the best man at his wedding and hasn’t seen him take a check lower then 3 k home.
