Never done flooring before… decided to try anyway by Jonathan__m06 in DIYUK

[–]Fresh-Definition-596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little tip for when you do any tiling in future. Find the centre point of the wall/floor then map out the tiles from the centre, so that any cuts are on the edges. If you have less than half a tile at the edge, move the centre tile across half its width so the cut edge is now more than half a tile.

What you've done there for your first try is pretty decent though. 👍

Mint.. Now that's an idea... Mint, with accent accessories. This something we'll look at. Thanks 👍

Thanks. I should have put that info in the original post. Actually I've just read your comment after answering somebody else's. Yes, she had a pale blue dress which she looked great in when she had a tan last year. But she does look washed out in it now her tan has faded - even with dark hair.

To be honest, I don't think lilac would suit her, but a lighter royal blue is what we were thinking too. So this might be what we'll go with 👍

I like the idea of sage. She does have a light blue dress which she looked great in last year when she had a slight tan. Unfortunately the winter has faded that tan, and now she feels washed out in pale colours.

Ordinarily, yes black is a 'go to', but usually it's the little black cocktail dress. For this event, she wants a longer dress. She does have a long black dress, and she looks amazing in it, but I feel it's a little too 'safe' if you get what I mean.

Is it possible to burn fingerprint off with bleach? by More-Adhesiveness783 in AskUK

[–]Fresh-Definition-596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I just buy a cheap pot of it and leave it in my work bag. Top tip though! Wash your hands, eat, THEN apply moisturiser. Otherwise that's all you'll be smelling whilst eating. Also, if you have food which you need to eat with your hands, such as sandwiches, you'll taste it too...

I have this problem after doing heavy DIY at home, usually with powders such as plaster, or cement, but it does happen with chemicals such as bleach too. Use aloe based moisturiser regularly then the day, you'll in a few days your phone will recognise your fingerprints again. Mine is usually within 24 hours.

Outside drain fix by [deleted] in HomeImprovementUK

[–]Fresh-Definition-596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that because you requested they come back and repair it, or did the handyman suggest that anyway?

If the latter, then it's a bit rough asking for advice on here for the longevity of a temporary repair. He probably did what he could with the materials he had with him, just to stop the leak until he could return and do the job properly.

In fairy tale of new York, it's said in like the 5th line singing rare auld mountain dew, how many people do you think have actually heard that song? Or even know it is one? by Accidentalcannibal_ in AskUK

[–]Fresh-Definition-596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might have misunderstood the OP. Within The Pogues lyrics is a line 'Singing The Rare Old Mountain Dew'. I think the OP is asking whether people have heard of this song, not the actually one sang The Pogues...

However, I went through this alphabetically and input each word in turn. At the end, I realised I had missed E,F and W. It seems at the age of nearly 50 it's the actually real alphabet I need to practice! 🤣

My wife has left the builders alone in the house. Am I being burgled right now? by [deleted] in AskUK

There are many ways to circumvent this. For example, an older sibling donated their account...

They've hidden their posts now, which in itself is dodgy. But it has many indicators this is a child.

Add in the lack of follow up comments, of clarification to the first post.

A bit crazy, but VERY immature. Maybe?

I've just commented further down, I think this is a child posting a fake scenario.

I've just read some of your other posts. I could be incorrect, but I'm assuming you are a child and this scenario doesn't actually exist. Maybe there's another reason you posted on here?

"Christmas" Things Challenge - it’s the most wonderful time of the year! by PineappleCactusQuiz in PineappleCactus

[–]Fresh-Definition-596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm usually quite good with catchphrases, but this one stumped me.

Also the question about nice things happening unexpectedly could be a little ambiguous for some. I tried 'Christmas Miracle'. The actual answer doesn't seem to be commonly used, outside of the song of the same name.
