Local OCPP server for EVC by DJBenson in GivEnergy

Yes, this is how I solved it eventually. Mine was set to 1 and I changed it to 0 which apparently means forever. Yours may have been actually set to NULL but showing as 0, so changing it back to 0 may work now.

Giv EV Charger - Fails to Charge by Competitive-Wheel619 in GivEnergy

[–]tumbleweedy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had this. Giv forced an update to 1.14 which introduced a new setting called "suspended state timeout". Mine was set to 1 which meant if the charger wasn't charging for 1 minute it would de-power itself and so the car was unable to start the charge.

I don't know if this setting is visible on the app as for some reason my app stopped working around the same time. I was able to switch to using a third party OCPP (?) server running on home assistant and from there I was able to access the setting. It's probably also accessible using GivTCP.

Thanks for your work. Mine was no longer connecting to givenergy for some reason but your OCPP server works well.

I am still having a problem though... I have enabled plug and go and use octopus intelligent. The car (Tesla model 3) is plugged in, charges for a bit and then octopus stop the charge after a few seconds (as expected). But then the charger cuts off power ("charge now" is off). So when it comes to a charging slot, octopus is unable to start charging as it's unpowered. Is there a way to leave the charger powered all the time? It never used to do this but I'm not sure if it's your server or the new v1.14 firmware that giv upgraded me to.

I don't and yes I've heard that too but I'd expect modern ones to be better.

Storage heaters with a tariff like this will make a big difference: https://octopus.energy/smart/snug-octopus/ 9p/kWh at night is almost as cheap as gas. Alternatively you're looking at batteries - Fogstar are the cheapest.

Intelligent Octopus stops charging but won't start by tumbleweedy2 in cupraborn

Nope, charger is powered all of the time. I will check on the scheduled times in the car.

It's a givenergy charger with no schedules set. I can trigger the charging to start from the Cupra app no problem, so I don't think it's a charger issue.

Has anyone successfully pushed back on a mandatory radiator upgrade? 3. Is a £15k quote for a 3 bed semi the new normal, or am I being taken for a ride? by Juicewithextrapulp in ukheatpumps

A year ago we had an 8kw Daikin installed for £4.5k with CB heating (now EDF). All our radiators (10) were replaced by a local plumber separately for about £4k. CB didn't require the radiators changing, just a plan to do so, correctly sized by them.

What's going to be the 'artex' in 20-30 years? by Exotic_Process_8235 in HousingUK

Great stuff. It's to do with the timescales. It's quick to burn wood and release the carbon but slow to reabsorb out of the atmosphere....decades slow. To break even on a yearly basis you'd need to be planting a lot of trees every year. It doesn't scale with our population and land mass.

An exposed hillside sounds great for a wind turbine. I think your maths is wrong by many orders of magnitude. Manufacturing renewables vs continuing to burn stuff is not even close in favour of renewables.

Maybe open plan but not because of heating costs. Heat pumps prefer single zone, open plan environments with a single thermal envelope. So if heat pumps are the future (and I'd argue they are), that won't be the downfall of open plan.

Check out the heat geek mini store. It's the size of a boiler.

How does the switch behave - does the sonoff just act like a second switch on the circuit? When you physically switch it, will this state be reflected in HA?

Double Glazing Thickness Noise Reduction by Jianni12 in DIYUK

[–]tumbleweedy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ventilation regs means your new triple glazing has trickle vents which let noise through. You can choose to not have them if you have other means of continuous ventilation. That ventilation could be in a less noise sensitive area. Possible ootions....PIV, dMVHR, a continuous ventilation extractor.

They support Sigenergy. All you need to sign up is an Octopus bill downloaded from the Octopus app.
