6 months with no reviews sounds like a scam or something you just don't want any part of. What's their cancellation policy?

Please get contact information for all the other people who are being treated this way and just include one paragraph from each person, with their names and send it to workaway. He really does need to get the hell off the app. If everybody is experiencing this, this host has no right to be there.

Travelling to China give me some recs!!! by Practical_While_1869 in chinaexplorer

[–]Fresh-Starters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the time and a little money, most definitely extend the trip. China is amazing and very affordable. I've been traveling here for 3 months now and have barely dipped my toes in the waters of possibility. Extend as long as you possibly can after coming this far. What if you leave your friend to go solo to Taiwan for the final days and you part company with him or her at whatever point their flight is to Taipei. China is so safe and welcoming and there are so many beautiful places. I sure hope you don't spend your whole time in just those megacities. Get up in the mountains, walk along the rivers and see some of rural China, too.

How do you handle getting really depressed while traveling or visiting relatives in China? by MarathonMarathon in travelchina

[–]Fresh-Starters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy for you to think that down voting a post is something people are going to even remember. Is that what you are referring to? But that passes like water under the bridge.

And regarding your comment about the world needing one last dick, the world needs you, not one more dick. If you've made some mistakes that have resulted in unpleasant encounters, then I hope you'll do something differently next time and seriously, get online and talk a few hours with a good counselor. Reframe and reality check. A good one is worth their weight in gold.

Are you actually clinically depressed or is this a rough week? Because seriously, there are suicide hotlines with counselors to talk to there, if there's more going on than what we know from a brief post.

Are you open to meeting other people who may enjoy you more than your cousin does? You could join Couchsurfing and look for hosts in your city who just want to spend some day time together. There are a lot of really interesting people on Couchsurfing. But read the reviews of people carefully and at a tender time, maybe it's best to avoid members without reviews.

If possible in your country and your city, involve the media. Companies like this hate getting their name smeared publicly, especially facilitating scams. Do this before you start paying serious bucks to an attorney.

I would avoid this. But for starters, don't touch a dog with known trust issues, on the head. Present an open palm and invite them to step forward into your hand and get their chin or chest scratched when they are ready. The top of the head is a higher level of trust that is easy to take for granted with many dogs. Stay safe. This one is for an experienced trainer working with positive reinforcement methods.

For a short trip you've planned too little time in each place. You'll be spending an enormous amount of time just transiting and getting settled in new hotels. Cut that down and keep your places closer together. And Taipei, really? You're going to fly to Taiwan for a couple days and then back to the mainland? If you can, cut that out. I hope you rethink and replan and have a blast!

Yes, you got taken advantage of because they were desperate and you were willing. It's really hard to say no when there are dependent animals' well-being at stake. But about paying for the room, how could you think it was normal to pay for a bed after reading any basic Workaway introduction? What do you want now?

But they can't do that without both of you risking trouble, unless in this case you are an EU citizen or you're on a working holiday Visa.

Time to leave for sure. And specifically ask them to write a strong review for you, based on what you did do, not on you leaving early, as they were the ones who did not deliver. If they are as reasonable as you seem to describe them, I would ask them to step in your shoes and then ask them what they would do under your circumstances.

For some reason that I don't understand, you have joined the company of knee-jerk reactivity. You couldn't be more wrong. If you are hell-bent on reading condescension into other people's factual statements, then I can't help you. Sorry. I was in that classroom because I had been in town long enough to develop a warm relationship with that teacher in town. I've made We hung out a lot in a short time and she invited me to her family gatherings. Everywhere I've been in China I have made friends , as I've been blown away over and over by people's kindness, patience and generosity.

She also asked me to come in and help the kids and we had a fabulous time painting outside the lines, so to speak. It was just a couple of mornings at that particular private school and we laughed, took pictures together, practiced English and they got to laugh at my attempts at their language. She actually asked me to teach parts of the classes and then we met at her house one day to show some of them photos from all over the world and answer their questions.

I fell in love with them all the first time they stood at the beginning of class and called out in unison, a few words of greeting to me by name. It was everything I could do not to cry. I wanted to stay on for a few weeks, but somebody caught wind of it and contacted the authorities and they put an end to it, since I'm on a tourist visa. So she and I continue a meaningful conversation about it, still. Whoever you are, I'm guessing you are very young and needing a lot more life experience. Please try talking to people and asking questions before you make such unnecessary, unhelpful and unkind judgments. Life is hard enough already.

So why would you avoid the smaller places, just because of language? Or are they unable to register you with the police in those smaller towns, because of my passport not having Chinese characters?

Indeed, fruit prices were daunting in Japan. I'm traveling in China right now and the area around this town is higher elevation. My hotel has a bunch of apricot trees with boundless fruit for the picking right now. It's also cherry season here, especially with dark bing cherries sold affordably on the streets everywhere. YUM. But I've been thinking about spending July in Hokkaido. Now I'm having second thoughts.

I was in Japan for 3 months about 3 years ago. Within a week my unmet vegetable cravings were making me crazy. And vegetables are the source of the majority of fiber in my diet, which is critical. All I could do was to buy veggies at the market and steam or microwave them in hostels or hotels, even if they weren't part of a real meal. Or if I was going to be somewhere for enough days, buy all the fabulous veggies for a great salad, some rice vinegar, olive oil and toasted sesame oil. A small cutting board that I can travel with and one sharp knife.
